What with the smoke , strong baht and now this 2020 has got off to a pretty bad start. And strangely enough I don't have much confidence in the Thai government structures to hold up with any degree of resilience should this not just be a bad flu/SARS type scenario. Time to go home back to the UK methinks.

Sir .. of all times .. this is NOT the time to make a long international flight.  You might as well just kiss the next 250 strangers you see and hope for the best.

This mask by 3M is being advertised to protect against Corona & Pollution - delivered home via lazada

The potential problem with un-rated, relatively anonymous online sellers of such protects is it's hard to tell whether they're selling legitimate 3M items vs fakes manufactured in China.

The fraudsters have done a pretty good job in turning out masks that LOOK very much like authentic 3M masks. Really hard to know for sure... But one thing a person can do is hopefully buy from an established, reputable seller -- which doesn't necessarily include unknown 3rd party re-sellers on Lazada.

Am I alone not having been to the "woods" Alarmist nonsense driven by the media, that people seem more than willing to buy into! Let me just check my immune system? yep still working - still alive ????

The self same media that is ignoring the massive protests that are happening in France where five protesters had their hands blown off by a Police "bomb" yesterday! Not a word in their fair and free news outlets about that!

It seems the death of a basketball player is the hot news today. Not some mundane epidemic in China, old news. Have to wait until it hits US.

And, avoid the Chinese and places where the Chinese congregate, for now.

Here in ChiangMai the Gov. reported 19 locations where Chinese tourist like to frequent...that about covers 'everywhere' in this Chin-colony. Went into town last night for some live music near the Night Bazaar area. The people wearing masks were either Chinese or front-line Thai works, massage, vendors et.. Strange vibe....Won't be going back there for awhile

I'm in Yala and the only farang here mostly confined to barracks with a supply of face masks and hand gel. It's very safe here if the terrorists don't get you and no tourists visit. So yes bunker down here for the foreseeable. Just done saibaht with an old monk escorted by 2 Thai army in their hilux so that's me protected for the day. The muslims don't much smile though and there is no night life scene at all. Nor do Thais go out in the evening anymore think Northern Ireland in the troubles and you get a rough picture.

Sounds like <deleted> to me. I live in Narathiwat full-time, have been to Yala countless times as the Mrs. is free m there, and have never felt unsafe or targeted in any way by muslims or buddhists. People are friendly and smiling all around. Never had any armed protection, thank God. That would make it more unsafe, if anything.
