Looks from the video that this is the onlyl guy using the street to hang his laundry. I'd imagine it had something to do with face.

I don't think I've ever lived in a soi in Thailand where several people don't do the same. Even my wife did it when we lived in a small house. Normal practice here.

Nobody and I repeat nobody in the "real world" would even consider murdering anyone, or driving over someone, just because their washing was taking up too much space in the Soi or because their cooking stinks.

Seriously?  It happens every day in the US, UK, Aus...

Maybe not in Canada, but they're so polite they're scary.

I rarely see it in the USA because I live in a middle class neighborhood and rarely venture into places where economic desperation frazzles away at exposed nerves.  Pretty hard to avoid those places in a country where most of the people are on subsistence wages.

Wanna truly understand it?  Go out every day for 6 months with 50 baht in your pocket, and no ATM card.  Limit your discretionary spending to that 50 baht, like the majority of Thai people.  See how your mood and your priorities change over those 6 months.  Then imagine doing it for 80 years.

It's a question of proportion. shure this happens in every country, but how often?

http://worldpopulationreview.com/countries/murder-rate-by-country/

Homicides (murders) per 100000 population 2019.:

USA = 5.35.

Thailand = 3.24.

UK (my home country)= 1.2.

so it depends who you are talking to. if you are talking to an American, you are right America has more murders per head than Thailand. If you are talking to a Brit, like me, you are wrong, Thailand has almost 3 times the murders as Britain does. We are very gentle, cool headed people. 555

Brit = jai yin.

If you really trust thai crime statistics....

In 2016 it was reported that Thailand had around at least 3,000 gun murders = 4.41.

If you count in all forms of murder around 4,000 - 4,500 = 5.88 - 6.61.

Crime statistics showed that mysteriously murders dropped around 2014, and crime statistics became more less published and or eventually stopped.

AUS population 25 million- 203 murders = 0.80 murder per 100,000 people.

UK population 67 million- 726 murders= 1.08 murder per 100,000 people.

Canada population 37 million- 651 murders = 1.75 murder per 100,000 people.

USA population 325 million- 17,000 murders= 5.23 murder per 100,000 people.

TH at least 3,000 gun murders in 2016 = 4.51 murder per 100,000 people, if you all all forms of murder 4,000 - 4,500 murders = 5.88 - 6.61

So it happened 203 times in Australia...  Kind of makes my first point.

And it happens less in countries that can be described as socialistic states with adequate safety nets for the poor.  Which is why the USA fails so miserably.

Shocking CCTV footage from a housing estate in Ayuthaya showed the moment a 56 year old Thai man murdered his 57 year old next door neighbor by driving a car straight into him.

When the "red mist" rises Thais seem to do some very sickening acts, in that split second of pure rage they screw up the rest of their lives and that of their families!

I hope he enjoys the rest of his life in jail reflecting on his in-excusable actions!

I am sorry Yinn, but after living in Thailand for over twenty-five years, learning to speak all three dialects of Thai near perfectly and, learning to read and write Thai - (I said near-perfect, but not fluent, as I can never be a native speaker) - you are completely wrong this time. I worked with both the Thai army (RTA) and the border patrol (Tor Chor Dor) as a visiting army Officer for six years in the 1990's. They all called me "tahaan bok, lop pee-set" which translated loosely means "army, special forces". I never ever felt offended by this. Both Mr Smith and Spider-man are absolutely correct in their summing up of Thai men. I have many Thai male friends, but almost none of them are mature mentally and my wife has a CMU educated hi-so best friend whose Thai-Chinese husband is "a class act" himself. If you do not understand the expression "a class act," then I, too, was being sarcastic. Nobody and I repeat nobody in the "real world" would even consider murdering anyone, or driving over someone, just because their washing was taking up too much space in the Soi or because their cooking stinks. The Thai man in this case just "lost it, Thai-male style" ! Just as the others have said - women are not clever and men are not strong. Everyone is an individual, however in Thailand, men behave like little boys well over 60% of the time, "because they can" and are almost never punished at all, for often terrible crimes. Just look at the red Bull guy, or the policeman/politician's son Duangtawan, who allegedly shot a man dead in cold blood in a disco in Bangkok, in full view of 600 people, including several farang witnesses. He ran away, with 'daddy' (or someone) providing him with dozens of one-use mobile phones, until the heat died down over a year later. It is a sad reflection on their poor up-bringing and, a sad reflection on your totally failed society. I know you are biased Yinn because you are Thai, but I still wonder sometimes how you won POY, over NCC ! (Cheers)

I totally agree..... Especially the POTY bit....That was disastrously amazing...????

The guy has has already admitted that he intentionally drove over the guy, 8 years of constant feuding over small issues ( washing line outside, cooking smells etc ) caused him to see red for a split second and took his “ revenge “.

 The guy took the kids to football practice, abandoned the car, walked around Future Park for a couple of hours contemplating what he had done then called his daughter to collect him and went to the Ayutthaya police.

A snap decision that possibly has ruined his life !!
