hrrecruiter
Just buy a set of masks for your family for public places. I got those via lazada, delivered in a couple days, sets of 3 and replacement filters too if you want to use against pollution - https://bit.ly/2u20bUD
30la
What are you worried about, it's all 100% under control, when can an epidemic ever become dangerous in Thailand? Just follow the PM's directions!

mrfill
Its all a bit shock horror. 106 deaths in a week, all in China, is hardly a world epidemic. Less than 2 days carnage on Thai roads. About every 5 years we get a major panic about another deadly virus and we're all going to die. Ebola, H1N1, bird flu etc.

Money from tourism is more important than dealing with an uncontrollable epidemic. You know the “Thai way”... react after it is a big problem. And by "react" you mean hold a bunch of press conferences where they compete over who can come up with the most moronic ideas and then not implementing anything except a few media day photo sessions to make it seem like they are doing something? The word crackdown is likely to be tossed around as well... Edited January 29, 2020 by hobz 3
AlQaholic
14, that is the kind of exponential increase indicating that the real number of infections in Thailand should be around 2000 or more now. Screening does not help much as the virus can be transmitted before any symptoms appear. And why in the <deleted> do these Wuhan people travel so much? Stay home you <deleted>!. You can argue forever about the size of the virus and how it can bypass the filters but they can be helpful in preventing the spread of the virus Edited January 29, 2020 by Sticky Wicket

It's not the Apocalypse so people make it out, or wish it was, to be. Most countries are taking the same actions as Thailand. Monkeycity
How many of you trust them scanning/checking people on arrival? It's the same way they scan you when entering some malls, or when going on the BTS, very loud beeps but they tell you to keep on walking - scanning machine is just for show. A friend who's never been here asked me why Thailand hasn't done anything to stop the Chinese tourists coming, well it's just a quick equation. No tourists, no one dies = no profit Tourists, some people die = profit Money has more value than people's lives. Also, just saw a clip on Facebook of Chinese tourists refusing to pay 250 baht for getting their hair washed+cut (females). These are the tourists you need! They come with viruses and no money, only spend money on Chinese tours, Chinese hotels, Chinese restaurants... How much do the locals really make from Chinese?

Travellers from infected areas are still travelling, hospitals at ground zero already overwhelmed and refusing new patients. If you were in one of these cities you would want to escape by any means without knowing you were already infected. I see this one as the big one and I hope to God I am wrong. If this had kicked off in the US or even HK I may have been less pessimistic but I think history will confirm my theory that this pandemic coming from the middle of China prior to the Chinese Lunar New Year has created the perfect storm to spread this virus everywhere and make it the Pandemic of this century. If that happens there is no way hospitals everywhere will cope and you will simply have to take your chances on self recovery. “Brace yourself Shiela”

I addition studies have shown that the coronavirus can survive up to 4 days on plastics, glass and similar surfaces. If you wear mask and touch say an escalator that has a smattering of coronavirus, then rub your eyes, guess what will happen. So I am guessing he said that masks are useless because in certain circumstances they are, well, useless.
tomauasia
Thailand will screen nobody there not qualified. They lie and will let them all through unless your coughing or dieing. Guderian
It's been clearly shown that the virus can be transmitted during the incubation phase when there are no symptoms, so what on earth is the point of checking body temperatures? The only effective way of keeping the virus out is to keep the Chinese out, full stop!
