The Chinese Wet Market is so filthy and disgusting that I don't understand why they still allow it.

It contains under the same roof all kinds of creatures that can be killed on the spot for consumption and many of them already dead. Among them there are: Pigs, Chicken, Dogs, Bats,

snakes, all kinds of fishes and creatures from the ocean such as turtles, lobsters, crabs, etc...

Now the specialists are saying that this new corona virus probably originated in an animal such as a bat and then jumped into the humans and now it can spread from human to human!

The government in China must educate the uneducated on virus transmission and eradicate this cruel Wet market forever.

Banning the sale of wildlife is a good thing but it would never eradicate the problem.

Heard of the Nipah Virus? This virus was named after a pig-farming village in Malaysia back in 1998. Many farmers got infected by their sick pigs and died. Scientists later found out that fruit bats carry the virus, so it was likely that the pigs were initially infected by a bat.

What we need are ways to quickly develop and produce vaccines in large quantities whenever deadly new viruses are found.

On January 20, there were 278 reported cases in all of mainland China, almost all of which was in Hubei province, which includes the city of Wuhan.  Today, Hubei has 3,554 confirmed cases, and there are four other provinces with at least 200 confirmed cases, and another five provinces with more than 100 confirmed cases.  These will likely follow the course set by Hubei, just running several weeks behind.  So Thailand needs to pull the plug on all Chinese flights.  Period.

Real-Time Tracking of Coronavirus

Vietnam gets a huge amount of Chinese tourists - yet as soon as the first case of infection appeared the government put a blanket ban on all incoming Chinese flights. The result was that, after a week, there are now only 2 cases of infection. Thailand, on the other hand . . .

So let me get this straight.  It's common knowledge at this point that the virus has an incubation period of between 5-14 days.  Meaning, that if a person arrives at the airport showing NO signs of the virus they can just walk out of the airport and go on spreading the virus?

Also, let me try and comprehend.  You're "catching" (for lack of better term) these people in the airport on ARRIVAL.  These people, like the 6 year old child, who were just on an enclosed capsule with I dunno 100-200 other people.  So the child had symptoms and then you let the rest of the people on the flight go into the public?  Because they didn't "have symptoms"? Even though someone on that flight did, and the virus takes 5-14 days to show signs.

I'd bet that uncle Prayuts Thailand has a crisis of it's own soon.  Just make sure you keep spending money though.

Thailand is screening arrivals at the airport...!!!! They have proved screening is not effective, to try and stop this epidemic spreading is do not allow any further flights to land in Thailand from China.....

Oh, i forgot money is more important than health of the nation....

Simple solution:  Restrict them to a 4 day "long weekend" visa on arrival.  Get them out before they show symptoms.  ????

And, pray tell...just how does one screen for an infection which often shows no symptoms for an average of one to 14 days, even though the carrier is infective even without symptoms?  Or worse, as this article tells: Doctors warn China coronavirus carriers may show no symptoms of illness at all, while still transmitting and infecting others.

https://www.scmp.com/news/china/society/article/3047636/doctors-warn-china-coronavirus-carriers-may-show-no-symptoms

“Our target is we will be able to detect all carriers entering Thailand and we will apply necessary measures as the situation develops,” said Charnvirakul. “Of course, we expect more people to get sick but we are able to identify all of them.”

Idiotic statement.  Incoming visitors cannot be tested, there is a shortage of testing supplies with a week turn-around for +/- results.  Last Wednesday Wuhan hospitals ran out of those test kits.  An Australian lab supposedly had a breakthrough which will lead to a fast antibody test kit but there is no expected supply in the near term.

Therefore, the only current way to test tourists would be to quarantine all for 14 days, and that, is NOT being done.

Bangkok is an asymptomatic carrier's viral heaven.  The scenario puts new meaning into old words... as many here will fondly remember:

One night in Bangkok makes a hard man humble
Not much between despair and ecstasy
One night in Bangkok and the tough guys tumble
Can't be too careful with your company
I can feel the Devil walking next to me

Yes ! Unable to Control it ! ... This does not sound to good !!! .... a REAL epidemic !     TIH, This is just Humanity.

..... Yes not looking to good just now, what ever, ... but still no one has Died here in Thailand yet right ?  14 Infected, and NO deaths !!! This is a pretty good Hospitals and Doctors outcome I think ! ? ....

Like the Doctors and Hospitals CAN control the outcome of people infected in this one, ? Well GREAT Really ! ... Unlike SARS ! ? .... Like probably this one will not be so bad, ... just like the Flue ? .... ??? ... (Orly 3% dying from this one, so they said in a Previous post .... and 10% were killed by SARS ! ... Like SARS WAS just a lot LOT worse I think ! ... Like with out Doctors and Hospitals, it probably would have killed almost all people that were Infected ! .... Like the black Plague back in the middle ages ? ... But NOW we CAN help people survive it ! ... and only 3% are being lost to this one !!! .... Quite a good outcome Really I think ! ? ...

... and the fast spreading Epidemic aspect of it, ? ... well TIH as I say, this is just Humanity, ...

... "<deleted> Happens" as we used to say on a bad day out on the boats in the Seismic exploration industry, if the gear all got tangled up, and we had to spend a week fixing it all !!!

...  So how many million does the Flue kill each year ! ? Like it IS In the Millions isn't it ? ! ... Like Pneumonia, ... sometimes refered to as the Old Man's Friend ? .... If this new virus, keeps on only killing 3% of those it infects, ... it is only a Blip ! ... and not at all worth being scared of, I think. ?
