Perhaps the Labrador was cross breed with a Pittbull

Believe me , if that were the case it would be labeled a Pitbull (with no mention of the Labrador blood).

And all the Muppets would have raised the story on page 1 to validate their irrational fear of a breed they have probably never interacted with, let alone owned.

First person to have a face transplant was a French woman having been savaged by a ............... yes you guessed it, a Labrador.

You've misrepresented the story here. Firstly the dog was a Labrador cross. Crossed with what I wonder? Secondly, Dinoire was passed out unconscious from an overdose of sleeping pills. Her family believed that the damage was caused when the dog, finding Dinoire wouldn't wake up, got more and more frantic, and began scratching and clawing her. The dog didn't just attack her.
And the point is, other dogs do bite people, but it's relatively easy to eg pull a poodle off a baby.
Doing the same with a pitbull is another matter. It's almost impossible to pull them off once they are in attack mode and locked on a victim.

Today's pit bull is a descendant of the original English bull-baiting dog—a dog that was bred to bite and hold bulls, bears and other large animals around the face and head. When baiting large animals was outlawed in the 1800s, people turned instead to fighting their dogs against each other.

Could bite and hold a bull or pig perhaps but it would be skinned alive trying to bite and hold a bear or any other large clawed animal.

The problem with these killer dogs here is once their genes get out into the soi dog population that is when things will get really nasty, imagine a pack of dogs like Hitler coming at you when you are out for a walk, or deciding to 'play' with your kids.

No doubt you'd be equally sympathetic of the dog's actions if it had been a Pitbull and not a Lab ????.

Thai people more smart than you.

look at the dog black mustache. Same Hitler.

It's certainly an amusing and astute observation, although I'm not entirely convinced that naming a Pitbull Hitler is scientific proof of the intelligence of an entire nation ????.

Where I live, Nong Han in Chiang Mai, there is a horrendous dog problem. An elderly neighbour next door has 5 dogs. Virtually every Thai house on the street has four or more dogs. Most of them do not have a fence and do not put the dog on a chain. The net result is that you have dogs coming at you when you walk the street, often in packs of 5 or more. Not to mention the dogs tearing open rubbish bags and urinating all over the bin, fence, everywhere.

I only go for walks carrying a big stick. But thanks to reading the above article I will now get gun that fires blanks on Lazada, as it appears the noise is more effective than any stick. Also ordered Spyderco knife just in case. The situation is that bad here.

You fond gun fires blanks on Lazada ? I not see nothing on Lazada

  .....The landlord wants the dogs out permanently ....

One of the biggest problems in Thailand is this irresponsible attitude of the dog owners, but like many things in Thailand there is no hope that this will change because in reality many Thai people want and have fun when their dog shows aggression, psychologically it is a demonstration of feeling inferior that is compensated by the aggressiveness of their dog,

Surely psychologist in Thailand would be very successful in this country where I not see

How about moving? Sounds like a miserable existence, especially with the air problems in CM too

We had an English setter growing up she was never trained but I could take her out in a field and if she smelled a quail she would lock up. Pit bulls were originally used to catch pigs

Precisely, and that is why they are often refered to as Pig dogs.  It may be coincidence but it appears to me that every time I see one of these dogs I look at the owner and I see a marked resemblence.  The same blind penchant for violence.  Even the women.

I present you a nice and very kind dog which name is ...Hitler ;

No, I am not inventing anything; Thai people know absolutely nothing about History;
if a name pleases them they use it without knowing what it corresponds to

Which was part of the axis

We are going to stop playing with words;
Thailand was indeed part of the axis of evil;
and if Free-Thai did not exist, this country would no longer exist because it would have been shared between Great Britain and China.
There are many texts on this subject.

I think we really left off topic ...
So I'm going to stop there.

This thread is yet another about Pit Bulls attacking, they usually end up killing of course, it's not about soi dogs who, thank goodness are not usually killers. The Pit Bulls are killers irrespective of how they are btought up or how responsible the owners are, and there is something suspect about the mentality of any one wanting to own one of course. Pit Bulls are banned in at least 12 countries for a reason- THEY ARE VIOLENT KILLERS. Let me guess you have a 'pittie', probably with a name like fang, tyson or rocky. What about all the other dogs then is the argument Thais use when their pest gets complained about. All dogs can attack and bite, but if you had a choice the last one doing it to you would be a vicious Pit Bull!

Yes they are banned as a breed however it is a very grey area. Also your comments that you spout are untrue at worst just lies. Your personal comments about me are very childish, pathetic and ignarant things to say to someone. No I do not own a pit bull or ever had owned a pit bull  or "the" Nanny dog" (question would I own one is YES, would I take on a Pittbull more than 3/4 months old No! This is due to socialising a very protective breed) however I do have a vast knowledge and experience about dogs having trained and worked my dogs on some very prestigious estates in the UK. I cringe when I see people walking their dogs off lead near roads or in public places (something I have never done even though my dogs are very well trained, "the unexpected" I would never forgive myself if due to my arrogance my dog was killed). I also would never leave my children unsupervised with my dogs/any dogs, I would never have my dogs out when children visiting, I would never let my children roll about the floor with any dog of any size or breed. Oh I have also had horses and taught horsemanship/riding and trained falcons (even an American Red Tailed Buzzard that I could stroke which is a very noted visious breed). Don't draw assumptions about people you do not know.

Is that the sum total of your argument? Probably a pitbull owner. Says it all really.

If it had been a pitbull, the woman would likely not have been alive after it finished with her.

I merely suggested that you might have owned a 'pittie' you don't but claim you would like to, despite claiming to have a vast knowledge of dogs, seems a bit of a contradiction there. By the way the word is 'ignorant' as in a lot of Pit Bull owners. It is not a grey area where they are banned, they either are or are not. The only grey area that exists is when idiot dog owners cross breed these beasts with other dogs to try and get around the law.

You know for all the comments on here about how violent 'pit bull' type breeds are (and I agree) . Their violent nature pales in comparison to the violence that the species know as homo-sapiens is able to inflict on itself and every other species on the planet. If an aggressive and violent pit bull attack results in people calling for the whole genetic family of pit bulls and associated lineages to be eradicated. What I wonder do they think a fit punishment should be for our species? Extermination too? Or do those arguments not apply because we are too educated and important.

I am sure I read that in Pattaya, a dog owner is legally responsible in law for ANY damage to persons or property?  That would include not just dog bites but any injuries to car/motor bike drivers and their vehicles.  Victims should take owners to court and sue for punitive damages.

Of course the local police do not enforce the law unless it benefits them.
