Thai media has reported that tourism businesses in Pattaya that cater to Chinese tour groups are preparing to shut down for a full month.

Despite it being high season for tourism the fallout from the disastrous coronavirus outbreak is now being felt in full force as those who managed to get to Thailand go home.

77kaoded reported that with travel bans on tour groups now in place by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in China, boat restaurants, regular restaurants and shows that cater to the Chinese are simply calling it quits until at least the end of February.

The media said that just a few Europeans were left on ten restaurant boats in Pattaya bay that are normally heaving at this time of the year.

For a full month! What, really???? With 14 days wait for see and transfer between only 4 people, that can be 2 month already.

Well, the good news is the few remaining Europeans now stand a good chance of getting a few prawns from the buffet.

Good hotels only put half the food out for the Chinese, then after they have got on the bus, they put the rest of it out for the less greedy guests.

That's gonna sting.... But I'm sure T.A.T will be informing us tomorrow that the Eskimos are coming to save the day.

this will spread out of control if it hasn't already

That will not happen . Prajut Chan-o-cha left no doubt about it ... Anyway . when shyt happens , there is usually somewhere something positive , too . Just need to find it . And survive , of course ...

Immigration may be forced to soften its rigid requirements to attract more tourists and retirees...

The virus could end up being a blessing for future visa seekers...

I doubt it. They will just stick their heads in the sand and think things will blow over. I afraid they might be in for a shock as many people are over this place

It was lovely yesterday.  I drove my four-times-a-week journey along Suk and Rot Fai. No coaches at all on the Floating Market car park where they usually queue to get in.  Even the police banditry was not in evidence; maybe they've been given leave for a month?
