Popular Post Gonzo the Face
I don't ever recall so many and such drastic movement in the Thai Baht, in such a short time period. Is this due to the virus or some other cause? 5 1

Popular Post CNXexpat
Less foreign money come to Thailand (2 million less Chinese tourists are expected), so the Baht is down. It will go up again if the tourism get back to normal.

Popular Post cerox
Time to get back to 40 THB for 1 EUR. This would be fair value considering the polluted air that nobody takes care of.
orang37
Hi Khun Gonzo, While the obvious "elephant in the media" is the corona virus, and its impact on tourism/economy: can we exclude other factors, like the oncoming months of air pollution, and the international publicity said pollution got last year ... or, ignore the macro issues of China vs. US trade, and how that shapes the inflow of capital here that bolsters the baht ? While immigration/visa problems are the currency de jour for the professional whingers who haunt this forum, I don't think that affects overall tourism that much. Given the "no see, no hear, no talk" policies of Amazing T., how much can we know that is not submerged in the tsunami of "mai mee pan haa" ? cheers, ~o:37;
moontang
BoT spent 4 billion us keeping the THB from going deep below 30 over New years. Should be interesting this year. Seem to move like a freight train...steadily in one direction..until an even like this changes its direction. It was long overdue, this time. It will likely prove again that the whingers and their bogus income letters mostly don't have the money to bring over at any rate, kind of like the people who wouldn't buy homes in America ten years ago at 80% off.

Popular Post RoiEtDale
I was concerned about that also because this month the exchange rates are finally doing so much better. I knew they would. I was at the bank yesterday updating my pass book because it was payday and I was looking at the exchange rate boards and I smiled!!! The GBP is doing well the USD jumped up two whole points in less then a month that is an absolutely amazing improvement for the dollar. The USD is absolutely skyrocketing!! Unfortunately for our Australian friends it’s still like 20 or 21 baht to the AUD sorry guys I hope it improves for you as well. I really do! But every other other currency has started climbing fast! So I sure hope the Coronavirus doesn’t screw up the market progress. They should call the Coronavirus the Kung Flu virus. Why bring Mexico into your problems? Lol but hopefully things will keep improving because current exchange rates are climbing fast!!! I just prey for our Australian friends as well that the AUD improves along with the rest of us. Oh also the Euro was still about the same on the board at the bank yesterday as well. So looks like only the GBP and the USD are really improving so far in the exchange rates. Let’s pray that the Coronavirus doesn’t mess up the improvements!!! I’m sorry the Kung Flu virus lol. And obviously most importantly let’s pray that no one else dies!!! Comedy helps when people are scared but this really probably is a WHO nightmare trying to screen all international travelers especially from China! So the New Year started off well let’s hope it stays that way and I pray for the thousands of Chinese people who were hoping to have a nice Chinese New Year that are under quarantine right now in fear for their lives. But I’m watching that exchange rate now and amazingly fast improvement!!! I just hope this doesn’t ruin it! 1
