Popular Post webfact
Amazing Thailand! Man turns up to his own cremation - so who's that in the coffin? Thai caption: So who's that in the coffin? Picture: Sanook A funeral in southern Thailand was thrown into utter confusion on Sunday after the man who was supposed to be in the coffin casually walked into the temple. Relatives and father Suchart were just about to light the funeral pyre and bid farewell to Praphat who everyone thought had been killed by a train while out walking on the railway tracks. Praphat's appearance at the temple of Wat Thung Yuan in Thung Song sub-district of Nakhon Sri Thammarat caused a right kerfuffle. First of all, there were those in the congregation who thought this must be the spirit of Praphat come back to haunt his own cremation. But soon he was checked and found to be flesh and blood - albeit very dirty having not washed for many days. Praphat suffers from mental problems, Sanook said. So who was in the coffin? Chief of the Chawang police Pol Col Suthat Songsayom said it was an understandable mistake. The man found on the tracks matched the description of Praphat and it was near his home. The train driver had seen him wandering on the tracks. The victim had been badly mangled and the face was unrecognisable. In addition the corpse had no papers or possessions. The body is now awaiting identification at Wat Jandee. Chawang police would like to hear from anyone in the area who might have lost a relative. One wonders how many would have panicked and run screaming into the jungle had he turned up a day or two after they thought they had cremated him? 2

Just how did he 'match the description of Praphat' - two arms, two legs and a head perhaps? 2 1

Shame he didn't throw a bag of flour over himself first. I reckon the world record for 100 metres would have been broken by several in the congregation. 3

Somtamnication
God, I always dream of doing that; appearing at my own cremation. The look in their eyes. lol

Blue Muton
This surely makes a convincing argument for extending TM30 registration to Thais, clearly the powers that be cannot keep track of those who fail to report their every move.
