Popular Post Bourney0 Posted February 9, 2020 Popular Post Share Posted February 9, 2020 Hey all, my wife and I recently discovered a Chinese food court in Prasertland (the west side of Nimmanhaemin) that has not failed to impress after six visits or so. Neither of us have any connection to the owners. I want to plug the place because they are not getting a lot of business because there seem to be far fewer Chinese visiting town at the moment and I want them to stay in business because the food is fantastic the the prices are very reasonable. The atmosphere can best be described as function over form and the cooks seem to only speak Burmese and Mandarin, but the owners, who have lived in CM for four years or so, speak some English. Also, the pictures of dishes at the stalls are only accompanied by Chinese titles, so you need to point at what you want and maybe ask the owners for a description if you are unsure. Just fill up a payment card with baht at the register and pay at each stall with the card, then return the card for a refund of the remained before you leave. There is an enormous variety of dishes and many of them are Sichuan-style. The portions are very generous. I can highly recommend the beef with handmade noodles, and the big plate of chicken with crispy potatoes, green beens, and cauliflower soaked in chili oil with Sichuan peppercorns. After trying many items there it doesn't seem like one can go wrong. The place is called A-han Jin. What wrecked it for us was the owner - presumably - fat Chinese guy with a scraggly bunch of chin whiskers sat on the far LH side of the place, farthest away from the kitchen. Kept up a constant shouting match with the staff, all in Mandarin or course. But this seemingly is a trait of theirs. The rest comes with the territory, I suppose. I spent six months traveling across China on a bicycle and this place brought me back like no other. But it's not for everyone. Similar to common chinese restos, but all cooks appeared to be burmese girls. Outdoor tables with beer bottles and smokers plenty. I ate inside. Ordered 'ma po dou <deleted>' and 'gan bain dou jiao', two of my favs. Not bad but swimming in oil, maybe palm oil, which i do not favor. I'd go back later in the year when the virus, and chinese, are gone. I'd try the chicken/cashew dish. I like the sichuan spicy taste and will check the menu board.
