Ideally, a unified Ireland sounds great. Pragmatically, not so much. If I was a ROI politician, taking over sovereignty over the north wouldn’t be worth it. As for Isaan, who knows! I’ve always been a proponent of having a more devolved government in Thailand based on the major regions (North, North East, Central, and Southern Thailand) given the complexities of the country. If they wanted to hive off and join Laos, then good on them I guess. I can’t think of many reasons they’d want to do that, not that the central Thai focused government cares for them much unless it is around election time. So a Newin NE private fiefdom? Who knows, could be on the cards!
