Government considering extending Songkran holidays to lift economy

Recommended Posts

More time for the morons to spend borrowed money they don’t have and of course more time to kill each other, let the halfwits get on with it I’ll be back in a land of sanity.

There's a fricking DROUGHT on and these morons want to have 2 more days of wasting water!  🤪

Ah well, after Corona thins the herd, perhaps there will be enough water for the survivors.  😷

The thinking may have some serious flaws. Roadway deaths, alcohol related incidents and other negative behaviors related to both of these may certainly result by extending these financially created holidays.

Rather than create incentives for the approximately 200,000 expats, extended tourists and foreign workers from the west and elsewhere; who generate billions of baht year around, the "leaders" are grasping for short straw remedies.

Doesn't that mean Immigration would be closed for 9 days, from Saturday the 11th through Sunday the 19th?

To extend songkran holidays may fight the water shortage too.

Who brought up the idea? Was it Anutin?

Nah it was Some kid, a little desperate but perhaps the kids do have good ideas, can't be any worse.

Extending the holidays to lift the economy - only in Thailand! When will all the extra money spent during the extended holidays be earned?

Great thinking, batman! A recent survey revealed the vast majority of Thai families are up to their necks in debt - and that was before the novel corona virus kicked the economy in the goolies.

Can't imagine many Thais having surplus cash to throw around on an extended Songkran. It's a hare-brained plan likely to speed the spread of the virus and worsen the drought.

Here at Thaivisa it is fast approaching the time when April 1st ideas are discussed by the editorial team.

We always have plenty of food for thought.
