The Thailand Meteorological Department forecast on Saturday (February 15) that the westerly trough moving to the North would bring cool to cold weather.

The high pressure over the Northeast and the South China Sea is weakening while the southeasterly wind prevails over the lower Northeast, the East and the Central regions.

Isolated light rains will occur in the lower Northeast, the Central and the East. The weakening easterly winds across the Gulf will lessen rains in the South.

From February 16-19, the strong high-pressure area from China will extend to upper Thailand affecting cool to cold weather with strong wind and a decrease in temperatures by 4-6 degrees Celsius in the Northeast. The Central and the East has cool weather and a drop in temperatures by 1-3°C.

The weather forecast for the next 24 hours is as follows:

Northern region: Cool to cold weather; temperature lows of 12-21°C and highs of 33-36°C. Temperature likely to drop to 5-13°C on hilltops.

Northeastern region: Cool weather with isolated light rains; temperature lows of 17-24°C, highs of 35-37°C. Temperature likely to drop to 12-15°C on hilltops.

Central region: Partly cloudy with isolated light rains; temperature lows of 22-25°C, highs of 36-37°C.

Eastern region: Partly cloudy with isolated light rains; temperature lows of 23-27°C, highs of 32-36°C; waves a metre high.

Southern region (east coast): Partly cloudy skies with thundershowers in 10 per cent of the area; temperature lows of 23-26°C, highs of 30-34°C; waves a metre high.

Southern region (west coast): Partly cloudy with thunder showers in 10 per cent of the area; temperature lows of 23-27°C, highs of 32-37°C; waves 1-2 metres high.

Bangkok and surrounding areas: Partly cloudy with isolated light rains; temperature lows of 25-27°C, highs of 34-37°C.

Is this a prime example of an Oxymoron "Isolated rains for most of Thailand" or just hedging their bets? 🤔

Clear blue sky as far as the eye can see (due to great air quality today that is very far) so I'd like to know where those clouds and rains are.

So 36-37 centigrade is cool?

It is, compared to Doha or Dubai... probably not so when compared to Anchorage.

My first reaction was similar, that this phrase is antithetical, but on second thought that's not necessarily so.  It can just mean that over most of Thailand there will likely be isolated rains.  In the area not among the "most", isolated rains are not predicted.  Makes sense -- sort of.
