Can someone please explain how the Excise Department are affected by the virus?

Apart from having a bit of free time on their hands due to lower than predicted revenue the virus is a health issues not a tax issue, as the virus does not pay tax. Surely this is a great time to introduce some new taxes as the populace is distracted, then the politicians can call for the taxes to be lowered or waived as the people cannot afford the new price rise.

Unclear is the relation between the virus situation and tax collection, but yes, this is Thailand and, as the saying goes "Mysterious are the ways of the East"!

In Thailand they blame everything on something else than their own incompetence.

Now Corona has done it. And Corona is heavily taxed.
