Puccini
I thought I read an article a few days ago saying that the WHO assigned the name "novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2)" to the virus and the name "Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19)" to the disease caused by it, but now I can't find this article again. Checking the who.int website just now I could not find a single mention of SARS-CoV-2 on the site itself, only three articles from scientific journals listed there that use this code. On the other hand, starting 13 FEB 2020, many websites have been using SARS-CoV-2, including www.ecdc.europa.eu Quote ...The novel coronavirus has thus been named ‘severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2’ (SARS-CoV-2)... globalbiodefense.com Quote ...the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2, previously known as 2019-nCoV)... Starting on the same date, websites including the WHO site have been referring to the disease caused by this virus as the "Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19)" or COVID-19 for short. No confusion about this. Edited February 17, 2020 by Puccini
Why Me
From https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019-nCoV_acute_respiratory_disease Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19),[2] also known as 2019-nCoV acute respiratory disease, is an infectious disease caused by SARS-CoV-2, a virus closely related to the SARS virus. Viruses mutate, names too.
