Why can't men just walk away? There is a big issue with the relationship. It cannot be resolved. So, you accept it and move on. That is what real men do. Babies and children, who look like men, take offense at anything and everything and react in a crazy manner, without any reflection.

Know thyself. Look within for the source of the problem. Take responsibility for your life. Man up. Get a life.

...being mentally fragile and incensed on revenge is very hard to control for these types.

In the internet age  good or bad news  travel very quickly;
tourists generally avoid countries at risk, even if the landscapes or the animal fauna are splendid.
And even if the price of the plane ticket is not very expensive.

Quite to choose, they will prefer Vietnam or Malaysia ...

If they are looking for a cheap leg over they wont.????

And regrettably, there will be more of these kinds of incidents to follow.

The tragic and sad incident at the Mall in Korat has taken the Cork out of a bottle.

Rubbish and unnecessarily hysterical.

There have always been and will always be  crimes of "passion' in Thailand. It's bene going on for years. In the past the woman would be stabbed or beaten to death at home and few if any media outlets would mention the story.

What does tourist numbers have to do with some man shooting his wife in a hairdressers in Bangkok!

Four shootings in a month which have been reported world wide may deter some people from visiting...especially families..thats the link with tourist numbers

That shopping mall is in on nut - farang ghetto. This will be happening more often.

There's two different Century Movie malls, an older one at Victory Monument and the other newer one at OnNut.  The Reuters article above says the shooting occurred at the Victory Monument location.

You might be happy to catch a bullet in the head, but people from civilized countries become frightened. They think they might be shot in crossfire. It's highly possibly in the land of gun owning psycopaths.

The article is about Thailand, not the US.

Ten days before, a soldier killed at least a dozen people at the Terminal 21 shopping centre in the northeastern city of Nakhon Ratchasima. He had earlier killed his commanding officer, other soldiers at his base and several people at a Buddhist temple

Why at least a dozen ? It was 39 people.. not easy to forget so soon, unless minimization its on its way so as to sweep that "incident" (might as well call it like that, while we're at it) into History ..

Because he / they cannot loose face to his / their LEO drinking buddies.... messed up primative hierarchical thought process that shows no sign of dimishing anytime soon in a Countrry with a culture that can not keep pace with the 21st Century..... and with a regime that supports this suppresion of its people does not help change attitudes or promote social progresssion, and / or a sense of responsibility of actions.

"Face" trumps all common sense.

or anywhere else for that matter, relationship breakdowns are an emotional matter involving feelings, as well as money, fear, children, property etc. the ego is being attacked as well as the foundation of one's life. If both parties can't put aside feelings for a few weeks and deal with the matter fairly and logically, and few are capable of that, it is a disaster for all concerned, at the extreme end of the scale violence is the outcome, this is worldwide and not a Thai phenomena.

I totally agree, you only have to read news reports from around the world.

Unfortunately the prophets of doom on this site can only think of reasons to be critical of Thailand.

Very sad people.

Fragile Thai male ego hits the nail on the head! I bet she was the one that broke up with him, if it was the other way around it would've had a different outcome. Loss of face is a BIG problem here.

Loss of face is a problem everywhere, except we don't call it face we call it being embarrassed, being shamed or being disrespected. All the same thing and often with over the top outcomes.
