Police have arrested man who allegedly shot dead a woman and injured another during a shooting at a mall in Bangkok on Tuesday.

The man who brazenly walked into a beauty clinic at a downtown Bangkok shopping center and murdered his ex partner sitting behind the counter was arrested in Phetchaburi province early on Wednesday morning, Naewna reported

Earlier reports also suggested a person was injured in the attack at the "Century the Movie Plaza" near the Victory Monument.

Piyanuch Chatrathai, 28, was working at The Icon Clinic when Danusorn Nimcharoen, a staffer at a department store, came in with a gun.

A search of his address in Ratchaprarop uncovered a note addressed to police in which the shooter called for a couple of days.

The note contained an apology to the suspect's mother saying that he loved his ex too much.

A team of officers went to Phayao in the north of Thailand as they were concerned that the female victim's new love interest was next on the hit list.

The court in Bangkok has issued a warrant for the arrest of Danusorn, 29, on four charges: Premeditated murder and premeditated attempted murder, having a weapon with no licence, and having a weapon in public and discharging it in public.

Danusorn is now in police custody awaiting further legal action.

This article has been updated following the arrest of the suspect.

BANGKOK (Reuters) - A man killed his ex-wife and wounded another person at a shopping centre in Bangkok on Tuesday, police said, just 10 days after a mass shooting at another mall in Thailand's northeast.

The man had gone into a beauty clinic at Century The Movie Plaza mall where his ex-wife worked and opened fire, killing her and wounding a bystander, Colonel Kissana Pattanacharoen said.

The gunman was arrested while on the run in another province, police said on Wednesday morning.

He was charged with premeditated murder and illegal gun possession, and three other charges.

The shooting came with Thailand on edge after the shooting rampage earlier in the month.

On Feb. 8 and 9, a soldier killed at least a dozen people at the Terminal 21 shopping centre in the city of Nakhon Ratchasima. He had earlier killed his commanding officer, other soldiers at his base and several people at a Buddhist temple.

Gun ownership is relatively common in Thailand, with about 10 million privately owned firearms in the country in 2016, according to Gunpolicy.org, or one for about every seven citizens.

Gun violence killed 1,729 people in 2016, about 10 times the rate per 100,000 as in neighbouring Malaysia, the organisation said.

Most violence involving firearms stem from personal disputes or robberies. Mass shootings or killings in public spaces are rare other than in the far south, where a decades-old insurgency persists.

A 28-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly murdering his former wife.

Officers of Metropolitan Police Division 1 and Phyathai Police Station on Wednesday (February 19) arrested Danusorn Noonjaroen, who is suspected of gunning down Piyanoot Chatchai on Tuesday evening at Century The Movie Plaza department store near Victory Monument in Bangkok. A female bystander was injured in the attack.

Danusorn was arrested at a house in Kaengkrajan district of Phetchburi province. He reportedly had in his possession a Colt .45 handgun, 32 bullets and two holsters.

Police said Danusorn had confessed to his crime and told officers that he was planning to escape to the Hua Hin district of Prachuap Khiri Khan province.

He was charged with five offences: murder, attempted murder, possessing gun and ammunition without licence, carrying a firearm in a public place without proper cause and licence, and discharging firearms in a public place. He was sent to the custody of Phyathai Police Station.

He should get the death penalty or life without parole and no pardon ever .

unfortunately, justice systems around the world don't value guilt for inane murders committed because of "feelings" as badly as murders that make sense.

This type of thing happens all over the world and I am no Thai apologist whatsoever!

How to deal with rejection has to be taught in secondary school. This crime happens all too well often.

Ease of access to guns in Thailand is also a huge problem, notwithstanding that he could have done it with a knife.

I'm not usually in favor of the death penalty, but really, what do you do with such a tool? Senseless violence for purely selfish reasons, plus a crybaby "sorry mum" routine - I don't think it's possible to fix or "reform" whatever went wrong with such a character.

You only hurt... the one you love....

No wonder so many Thai girls choose Farong over Thai baby boys.

Just my theory, but due the very different balance of power between girls and boys when we were growing up in Ferangland - we all got dumped 3 or 4 times in our youth.  We  called our mates, went out for a beer, got over it.

But Thai men seem to have several girls on the go and rarely get dumped, so they have the emotional maturity of a toddler.
