No ‘hidden’ virus cases in Thailand, official insists

Thailand’s current barricade against the spread of Covid-19 takes the form of two-stage screenings for the virus in eight provinces and ramped-up checks on Thais returning home from countries and territories where it’s been found, the director of the Disease Control Department said on Wednesday (February 19).

People over 50 most at risk of Covid-19 infection

People over 50-years old, especially those with congenital diseases, are more prone to coronavirus (Covid-19) infection, said Prof Doctor Yong Poovorawan, head of the Centre of Excellence in Clinical Virology at the Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University.

Anutin hits back at critics on video call

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Normally serene Thailand has been on edge since a rogue soldier went on the rampage in a northeastern city this month, killing 29 people in a shooting spree that ended in a standoff with police at a shopping mall.

Baht keeps strength despite coronavirus outbreak, economic decline

The Thai economy in 2020 would expand at a much lower rate than previous forecast and way below its full potential, mainly due to the combined impact from the coronavirus outbreak, delay to enactment of the Annual Budget Expenditure Act and drought on a large number of businesses and employment, according to the minutes released today by the Monetary Policy Committee of the Bank of Thailand .
