Bangkok Barry
A friend of mine returned home to Australia over exactly the same thing. His house was broken into, and while in there they found the keys to his SUV and took that too. The guard to their gated community mysteriously disappeared at the same time, giving the police a clue who to look for. They refused to do anything at all unless he paid them 100,000 baht. His wife was so upset they moved house, before deciding they had had enough of this s******e of a country and left.

Still steal/lose-able. Also, which crypto currency is "stable"? It's not easily spendable. It's hard to beat physical cash in that way. Nah, I live in a gated MooBaan, never bother to lock the door when I go out. There isn't any gold or money, but I don't mind them taking a look if they really want. I'm so poor, some of the old ladies leave me gifts of food outside the back door, or on the freezer just inside. I think they omitted to say per month, per week or maybe even per Day!! "And the Thai burglary rate had almost halved by 2016." from when to when?? Just another instance of quoted figures not being right What makes you think that the figures aren't right? I have never been burgled in Thailand. I know of no one who has been burgled in Thailand. Back in the UK I lived in a respectable area and 11 houses were burgled in my street in one night. I'm more than happy to accept that the burglary rate in Canada is higher than that in Thailand. It certainly is in the UK. Edited February 20, 2020 by DannyCarlton

He was dressed like a company employee might be. (How she knew all this was not explained in the story, notes Thaivisa)." Key quote. ....but who saw the burglar? Were the couple not in Pattaya at the time? 1) It is stupid to keep that much cash at home specially when you are away. 2) What relevance has burglary rates in canada got to do with anything? These are presumably 'reported' burglaries - given the apathy of Thai police, who reports all burglaries in Thailand? 3) One day, I may understand their mindset. An investment of just 50k/thb the money could have still been safe in a safe bolted to the floor - actually not more complicated than that so to get fed up over your own stupidity and move to another country doesn't make you wiser ...

Normally I would never keep that much cash in my house with no one home but in a secured gated community it shouldn’t be a problem that’s why they were probably paying decent money for the security service. That’s why I provide my own security service complete with surveillance cameras and other stuff I don’t publicize. Gated Communities really do actually SUCK ! they are every where, in every country, but they just avoid the Real social problems. Do know that along the Southern French, Mediterranean coast there are Communities, who refuse to let Public transport go in to them, .... (No Trash Right ?)
