Wait until Cambodia gets their act together and increases rice production.  They used to produce more rice than Vn or Thailand and have the land, rainfall/irrigation and farmers for rice growing.

Rain when it falls ...
but if you think that the Mekong will be able to suffice, you are grossly mistaken; the multiple Chinese dams on its course will make the delta in southern Vietnam almost dry; what has already happened in another region of the world; '
a river that crossed the USA / Mexico border saw its Mexican mouth disappear because of too much pumping on the American side.

In the last century a French politician predicted that the next world wars will be wars for water; he was not mistaken; Vietnam will sooner or later again war against China for this because the millions of peasants who grow rice in the Mekong Delta will find themselves on the street for lack of water and Vietnam will cry famine.

Exchange rate.

Value of the Baht is very high compared to the Dong.

The Viets devalue their currency to follow the USD.

And what currency do you think THB tracks! The Dong is worthless, it's not backed by anything and everyone knows that, the government can change its value every month and often does!

"After the revaluation of the Zimbabwean dollar on 1 August 2006,[16] the đồng became the least valued currency unit for months. Around 21 March 2007, the revalued Zimbabwean dollar regained least valued currency status (in terms of black market exchange rate), and on 7 September 2007 in terms of official exchange rate. After the use of the Zimbabwean dollar ceased on 12 April 2009,[17] the đồng was the second least valued currency unit after the Iranian rial as of 28 November 2014. Since 19 June 2014, the Vietnamese dong has been devalued a total of five times in an effort to help spur exports and to ensure the stability of the currency.[18]".

I forgot the baht exaggeratedly and artificially strong to be able to buy weapons and second-hand submarines

Exact not! The Dong is a worthless currency that is constantly devalued, for a while there is was actually in competition with the Zimbabwean Dollar as the least valued currency on the planet, today it's not much better. In case you haven't seen the post above, read this.
