Upper Thailand will experience cold mornings and strong winds, while the South will see isolated thundershowers.

The Thailand Meteorological Department forecast on Saturday (February 22) that a rather strong high-pressure system still covers upper Thailand and the South China Sea while continuous strong easterly winds prevail across the Gulf of Thailand. In upper Thailand cool mornings are likely while strong winds are possible in the Northeast, the East and the Central regions. People have been urged to keep warm.

The department also said that the South would have isolated thundershowers with waves up 2-3 metres high in the upper Gulf from Surat Thani upwards and 2-4 metres high in the lower Gulf from Nakhon Si Thammarat downwards. People along the shoreline should beware of inshore surges. All ships should proceed with caution, and small boats should keep ashore until February 24, the department advised.

The weather forecast for the next 24 hours is as follows:

Northern region: Cool weather in the morning, temperature lows of 16-21 degrees Celsius and highs of 33-36 degrees Celsius. Temperature is likely to drop to 6-14 degrees Celsius on hilltops.

Northeastern region: Cool weather in the morning with strong winds; temperature lows of 16-21 degrees Celsius and highs of 32-34 degrees Celsius. Meecury likely to drop to 9-15 degrees Celsius on hilltops.

Central region: Cool weather in the morning with strong winds; temperature lows of 20-24 degrees Celsius and highs of 34-36 degrees Celsius.

Eastern region: Cool weather in the morning with strong winds; lows of 19-24 degrees Celsius, highs of 34-36 degrees Celsius; waves 1-2 metres high, increasing to 2-3 metres offshore.

Southern region (east coast): Partly cloudy with thundershowers in 20 per cent of the area; lows of 22-24 degrees Celsius, highs of 31-33 degrees Celsius; waves 2-4 metres high.

Southern region (west coast): Partly cloudy with thundershowers in 10 per cent of the area; lows of 22-26 degrees Celsius, highs of 32-35 degree Celsius; waves 1-2 metres high.

Bangkok and surrounding areas: Cool weather in the morning and strong wind; lows of 22-24 degrees Celsius, highs of 34-36 degrees Celsius.

High winds discourage them from lighting them, cause they can't properly control them. ????

They don't give a <deleted> about controlling the fires, just deny all knowledge about who started them.

Our neighbour just burnt their sugar cane and the fire spread into our garden and also damaged lights on the wall. "Not us" they claimed. "Too difficult" said the Police. <deleted> the lot of them.

This is strange information.

I don' t see any rain nearby.

... and 'temperature lows of 16-21 degrees Celsius' should be normal in late February?

Up North at least.

What a redundant information.

Same here (outside Udon Thani), the last three months has been excellent, never been a morning hotter than 20c, usually much cooler, wind coming from China now so the AQ is also very good.

Lovely weather with cool mornings and low humidity here in Kanchanaburi, but WINDY. Usually breezy in our area but recently the winds have been a bit too much. And the burning continues at night of course, as the winds usually calm down.
