Blue Passports for the UK next month

The original stiff passports were a very dark blue which might perhaps be remembered as black now

Still got my old one. It's black and looks great.

The UK chose to go to the burgundy passports under Thatcher I believe. There are other countries still in the EU that have blue passports. It would have been a much greater statement about taking back control to do something completely different like going back to a black passport.

I have my grandfathers old passport dated 1928. It's blue.

"The statement goes on to say: “Since its introduction in 1921, there have been a few variants of that navy blue colour but it has never been black, as some commentators have suggested.”

They can call it what they like. My old one's black. ????
And if you read the article you've linked to you'll see they also have a link to a UK government website that says this: "You can also apply if your last UK passport was an old handwritten blue or black one."

As an American, my passport is blue.

Would I care if it was red, blue or green? So long as I could travel with it I don't think I would care.

Maybe someone could explain why this color of your passport thing is so emotive, because I don't get it

We used to have Blue passports and then we joined the E.U and were made to used red passports and then when we went abroad, everyone thought that we were foreigners and not British because we didint have proper British blue passports

Yup blue/black passports.

The ONLY tangible benefit of Brexit so far.

Just ignore the fact that the UK could have made the passport any colour it wanted prior to Brexit.

Still it gives the Brexiteers something to be proud of. Just the same as Big Ben being played on a tape recorder.

Bless.
