Insulation bats on concrete part of ceiling?

Recommended Posts

We are putting in a new ceiling on the 4th floor and 3/4s of it will be gyprock ceiling with downlights. The area of the ceiling that joins the next bedroom has concrete 2m or so. What Im trying to say is that the next door room has concrete ceiling and that overhangs into the big room where the gyprock ceiling will be installed next week.

I have purchased 30 bags of insulation bats. I need to know if this should be laid on the concrete part of not? I think not but thought I would ask. The thickness of the concrete ceiling is 10cm guesstimate. I forgot to measure it

thanks

I dont think there is a need.

You need to consider:

1. Is it likely to get wet,

2. Is there a condo or floor above that you need to sound insulate

3 can you insulate under the concrete roof, would you want to

If you have some spare and its no detriment jusy use it up

I think you're right. Im only putting it above the gyprock ceiling to insulate against the heat. I should have said that above.

You did say that.  Your question concerned laying it on the concrete.  So, are you good to go?

yep. I definitely will not lay it on the concrete. I put vents in the fibro walls inside the ceiling area and thus there will be fresh air going inside once its all done. Once we get some heavy rain I will climb inside there and inspect all areas for any leaks. All good fun
