You guys are missing the point entirely; nobody is disrespecting anything; just calling a spade a spade.

Also, if you are going after "American bashers" you should pick your battles more carefully, my post was actually in defense of the food served in the good ole USA :fight:

Thanks for this thread, I've been promising to take my girlfriend out for a proper pizza after payday, and a new restaurant would be a nice change.

I'd also recommend http://www.chililaroni.com/ - great quiet restaurant for relaxing (even though it's just off the main road!) and having some really good quality Italian food. Great pizzas, too. Not cheap, but certainly not expensive.

My current favorite:

Delizia

At Ramkamhaeng Soy 164.

Just drive in for 100 meters you'll see it.

Owner is from northern Italy.

Monday closed.

Big very thin pizza for 200 to 300 THB!

After that go for a drink to the Blue Monkey Bar right next to the Pizzeria.

I like some american food.........hotdogs are an awesome well thought out delicacy......

Hamburgers are pretty good too.

But pizza....mmmmmmmm......

Best pizza I have had in Thailand was one I made myself in a mud wood fired oven I built....so good.

Have anybody tried PizzazZ Pizza on Sukhumvit Soi 22?

My mate swears that they have the meanest, crispiest New York stylepizza in Bangkok, and some crazy topping too.

He gets it delivered, but unfortunately I am out in the boondocks now and they don’tdeliver here, saying that they cannot guarantee that the pizza arrives crispy.

If anybody knows if it worth the trip please let me know! Anyinfo appreciated. I am planning to go on Sunday.

I had pizza a couple of nights ago at Italian-owned Lido on Soi Si Bamphen. I thought it was excellent, would definitely order the pizza again. Very reasonably priced, as is the rest of the extensive menu.

My favorite pizza in town at the moment is that served at Clouds, Thonglor 13, which has only been open a couple of months. It's more of a bar than a restaurant, in appearance at least. Foodwise all they serve is pizza and salads. The pizzas are gourmet-style, and made from all-fresh, imported ingredients, baked in individual portions:

1. Oregano, Sea Salt and Olive Oil (Veg) 60 Baht

2. Tomato Sauce, Mozzarella Chunks, Basil (Veg) 130 Baht

3. Grape, Honey, Mozzarella, Rosemary Oil (Veg) 140 Baht

4. Pesto, Parmigiano Reggiano Cheese (Veg) 140 Baht

5. Ham, Pineapple, Chili, Mozzarella, Tomato Sauce 150 Baht

6. Zucchini, Mint, Basil, Pine Nuts, Goat Cheese (Veg) 160 Baht

7. Balsamic Onion, Goat Cheese, Parsley (Veg) 160 Baht

8. Egg, Tomato Sauce, Black Olives, Artichokes (Veg) 160 Baht

9. Spicy Chorizo, Mozzarella, Tomato Sauce 160 Baht

10. Prosciutto, Tomato Sauce, Basil, Mozzarella, Fresh Tomato 190 Baht

11. Portabello Mushroom, Tomato Sauce, Taleggio Cheese (Veg) 190 Baht

I do not agree. There is no way to get the crust right in a home oven and that is what makes pizza so good - although I am yet to find a good pizza crust in Thailand. :(

Heat your oven to 300-350 c from the bottom, and then put a thick solid granite stone in the bottom of the oven, you can get pretty good results. And the crust gets perfect!

And now I've to repair my laptop after having sprayed my whole whisky on the keyboard, thank you very much. :D

The first pizzeria in the United States was opened in 1905 by Gennaro Lombardi, at Lombardi's in Little Italy, Manhattan.

American Pizzas with their deep pan, thick crusts are generally rubbish. But it's true you find real Italian style thin crust Pizzas of a very high standard in NYC.

There are so many Italians in NY and they don't anyone messing with their original recipes.

Sorry, but American pizzas are usually thin crust, not deep dish and they have a different texture from the Italian, Italian cracker crust kind. I never understood the deep dish fad.

Bella Napoli gets my vote, seconded by Scoozi, then again I haven't been tried any of them for almost 2 years, maybe there's new good places, but I have never been disappointed at Bella Napoli in my 4 years in BKK, can\t wait to go back there next month

A (transgender) acquaintance of mine recommended this thread and, although the restaurant described by the OP has since ceased trading (and its domain name has been taken over by a pornography company), it is still an excellent thread, except for the c.100 posts that are focused on the pointless debate about whether Italian or American pizza is better (we all have different tastes)

I would like to add my support for Bella Napoli (as referred to in posts #29, #76, #135, #150, #161, #196 and #258), which in my opinion should please both lovers of Italian pizzas and those who prefer an American-style thicker base (given that their Neapolitan bases are quite deep); it also has a great (cosy) atmosphere (and most importantly for me is walking distance from my house)

With regards to the criticism of their service (post #161) I would agree that they do get very busy sometimes; if I see that it is particularly busy I just go to Himali Cha Cha (Indian) which has a branch just across the road. The only other criticism on this thread was post #196 where the poster said the pasta is better than the pizza; I would say the pasta is nearly as good as the pizza

Heaven forbid I try to eat a whole pizza these days...my metabolism clearly aint what it used to be!

I agree with you, that place it's one of the new Italian restaurant in Bangkok but the concept is very innovative, seems an "Italian fast food" but the quality it's very good, I often choose the antipasto Italiano which is one of my favorite, even pizza is good they said it's "Roman style".

Hmm the only way I can describe this place is to say if ya walked out of the Hard Rock cafe on to the main road and turned right...I think three blocks down...on the left is an Italian restaurant. Almost opposite what used to be the steak place. Seating is upstairs.

Anyway if you are lucky enough to find it with those terrible directions the food is excellent and well priced. tongue.png

exactly, you can get some very good results using a stone
