Help me Make a Travel Decision

Recommended Posts

So Port and Buriram play next week up in Buriram.

I went to their match there last year and it was a ton of fun.

So I have two options to travel. The first would be to go up to Osmach via minibus or car, cross the border, take a minibus into Surin, then a train to Buriram and then reverse. I think Siem to Surin is like 7 hours plus border time, so ideally I could make Buriram in a day as its only 45 minutesish by train. Leave here Sat morning, stay in Buriram for Sat and Sunday night, travel back Monday morning.

Or fly into DMK, then jump on the train to Buriram. Thats one hour plus the train time of about 7 hours. Fly in Friday or Saturday, mess around, fly back to siem on Tuesday.

Costs are no matter. Travel time is about the same.

Hows the virus going? Would I uneccessarily be exposing myself to risk? I wouldnt mind a stop in BKK to do some shopping, but if its virus central I can avoid it. Thoughts?

7 hours on a Thai train is something I would avoid.

Why not fly Siem Reap to DMK, then DMK to Nakhon Ratchasima, then bus/taxi from there? A taxi would take under 2 hours, much more comfortable.

Looks like there are flights to Buriram from DMK. https://minisite.airports.go.th/buriram/

Dude you are a God, why didnt I punch that into the puter? Looks like fly into swampy, fly out of dmk, 5 hour trip with 3 hours to get to DMK from Swamp. 3185 baht.

So, whats the virus situation then?

Take up golf, and get some exercise in fresh air. Crammed into an airport or stadium with plague carriers, as a sedentary spectator, doesn't cut it.

Back in town are we chum? Feeling all frisky etc? Still spending your valuable time promoting your favourite pre death sport? Hi, Im old and tottering, come wear a tam o shanter and try to hit a tiny ball with a $700 piece of metal. Yep. Sounds like me.

If Im going to walk around in fresh air, Ill do it with a camera or rifle.

Yes golf ruins a walk and costs too much. It also ruins your back.
