The Bhumjaithai party has become second largest party in the coalition government, displacing the Democrat party, following the defection of nine former MPs from the now defunct Future Forward party.

The Bhumjaithai party now has 61 seats, second only to the coalition’s core party, Palang Pracharat. Party registrar, Mr. Supachai Jaisamut, informed House Speaker Chuan Leekpai today about the nine new parliamentary defections from Future Forward party.

The nine, who have now all officially joined Bhumjaithai, are party list MP Wirat Panthumaphol, Khon Kaen MP Thitinan Saengnark, Phrae MP Krittidet Santivachinrakul, Chachoengsao MP Kittichai Ruangsawat, Bangkok MP Monthon Pokhai, Pathum Thani MP Anavil Rattanasathaoporn, Phrae MP Aekkarn Suesongtham, Bangkok MP Chotipat Techasonommani and party-list MP Samlee Ratsutthi.

Yet another fault of this present constitution. The citizens who voted for FFP probably had the chance and DIDN"T choose Bhumjaithai. To allow MP's to move over to another party just so they can keep their seats in parliament is outrageous. New elections should be called in all cases when a party is annulled letting the voters make their own choices as to who speaks for them.

Really ?? And let the cheaters that cheat have another crack at stacking the deck !!!

They nearly got caught with their pants down by FFP last year, they won't be making that mistake in any future "elections"

Come on guy's, there must be some way to disqualify them and give you total control of the trough!

BJT is part of the ruling coalition.

They "own" MoPH and co-own the MoT. The latter being a very large trough.

This does give BJT a bit more leverage which might be good for certain social changes.

Don't worry when the write a new constitution next year, they can fix it.

It's comical how this country operates - the US Constitution is nearly 250 years old and has only been amended (not changed substantially) 27 times in that period. How many full constitutions has Thailand had since 1932?

Future Forward Partylist MP Bencha Saengchantra coming forward and playing to the press a sound clip of a telephone conversation between her and an unidentified man. The man reportedly offered up to Bt23 million for Future Forward MPs to switch parties.

Gives this story more credibility, although, we all know, sadly, no action will be taken !

If any action is taken it will be a charge of sedition and breaking the computer crimes act by Bencha I'd wager.

Remuneration, be it 23M THB or not, will be challenging to prove.

If offered, it was probably through several cut-outs/factotums, and veiled in terms of letting them in on future deals as a result of sitting in certain ministries.

That is to say, it was not stuffed into a pastry box and delivered yesterday.
