I doubt this was clickbait, just a little misleading. He started his trip in Manchester, and arrived at Swampy. There are many airlines providing cheap tickets with one stop. What everyone is really interested in in reading about is how someone was on a plane that wasn't full. Incidentally, I doubt even in the best of times that 1000's of Chinese tourists flew to Thailand from Manchester every day. Most noticeable was the lack of Chinese tourists (also noticed that the noise level was down) The flight which is usually close to full was about 25%. Singapore airport also had a lack of travelers. Of course, I had no idea that something like this would cause an overnight drop. Just expected the quality tourists who spend the real money to continue dropping. Thailand is facing a dire emergency situation. I estimate somewhere between 5 and 8 million Thais are in businesses that are either tourism related, or peripherally connected to tourism. That is a world of hurt. Tourism was already suffering from the "quantity over quality" policies of the TAT, and the super lame army administration. Now? With incompetents like Anutin and Pipat leading major ministries, who have to deal with this situation, it is quite a perfect storm. Guys who do not have one iota of experience in the fields, that their ministries they are heading. What does that say about the utter disregard for the common Thai people, that this administration has? So, we might see an attitude adjustment from the racist ministries, and especially from the feckless immigration people. It is long overdue. How about apologies for years of regressive behavior? Did you see the silly post about the tourism numbers being up in January? The TAT will do and say anything to save face. What can one say? That would be another hard hit. I had booked a flight from Dublin to UAE /bkk . I then read UAE are stopping all flights for their citizens to Thailand and Italy. Now 12 dead in Italy and who knows how many have died in Thailand. I've reluctantly canceled my flight , personally I'm more worried about picking the virus up along the way and transmitting it to my young son in thailand then having problems getting home again .... more countries will follow suit I think , making travelling virtually impossible . 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
