Thai Embassy in Tokyo, Japan, posted on its Facebook page on Thursday (February 27) that Covid-19 can be sterilised by 70 degrees Celsius of temperature in cooking.

“The World Health Organization (WHO) has advised people to avoid raw and uncooked food made from animal meat,” the post said.

Also, the embassy informed that WHO had suggested that people ensure milk, raw meat and organs are treated with care, in order to prevent the ingredients or food from being contaminated.

“Please avoid eating sashimi or other raw meat in Japanese food this time,” it added.

What a load of horse dodo. If the food chain has reasonable hygiene standards there should not be an issue. Now if it were the Thai ministry of health rather than an embassy making this pronouncement, that would be another matter. The Japanese have a very good food chain hygiene standard, there is also a god good one in Thailand, in theory.

The most probable way of SARS-CoV-2 ending up in your sushi is somebody coughing on it. As in the Thai "sushi" displays that are wide open in the shopping malls. I'd much rather have it in Japan where they understand basics of hygiene.
