I saw a British expert on virus infections on youtube, the majority of people catching corona would have symptoms similar to a cold some would have no symptoms at all and some would have influenza symptoms, only those who are already compromised healthwise due to diabetes for instance could be in danger of sever symptoms or death. I can't understand the panic BS. The situation in Italy changed everything. This week earlier on ‘one day’ the rate went up 45% in a relatively advanced wealthy country in the prosperous parts not poor south. Moreover Italy is an open society, democratic and educated with what 6th or 7th big economy. That’s when global stock markets panicked. The official figures in Italy are far , far higher than Thailand as is Korea, Japan etc., Iran is very worrying. Now on economics China is a massive supplier of goods etc from IPhones, car parts, textiles, to tourists and students and medicines etc. Also China is a massive demand factor as its huge population also consume goods/ materials from USA, UK, EU , Japan, Australia and Thailand etc. It’s nearly 20 % of global economic activity. This is big. Finally the figures on Thailand compared to say Italy or UK ( already over 20) suggest there must be something different going on either positive or how they are recorded by the medics .... It's that data is being distorted because it's just not that serious, so we have many unreported cases. The world is a big place, people die all the time. And the current panic resulted in the unwise and unwarranted quarantine of the Diamond Princess. I think we'll see a major class action about that case. Very true. 28000 people die every day in China. In nine weeks 2800 have died from Covid 19 related issues. Proportion is called for. 2 1 1

Popular Post SpanishExpat
Kuwait has always been, is and will always been a weird country. A national airline which denies Jews to board one of their planes and prefers to cut a route rather than allowing Jews to fly with it can`t be taken serious! They don`t know more than the average population. Of course there are more than 41 cases in Thailand, but 80-90% of the infected don`t even know they have the virus/prefer to stay at home and cure themselves. So I think that there are several hundreds of undetected cases, but on the other hand they Thai government wouldn`t be able to hide many patients in serious conditions from the public. After actually looking up the definition of CFR in epidemiology (I know I'm a slow learner) it appears you are correct.Below is what I copied from the first definition. Alternative Title: case fatality ratio. Case fatality rate, also called case fatality ratio, in epidemiology, the proportion of people who die from a specified disease among all individuals diagnosed with the disease over a certain period of time. 1

A woman told her a Thai man from Tha Bo recently came back from Japan and did not quarantine himself. His bank was closed waiting to be disenfected. Luckily not our banks. You can guess if there really are any checks or precautions taken at immigration for Thai people coming home. She said half the people at the wedding quickly got up and left when this information spread, including my wife. My wife was sent straight to the shower. Way too close to home. I still hear those stupid bass speakers going, of course way too loud. Ignorance and disregard will be this country's downfall regardless of being 100% under control. I have been telling her no weddings, no funerals, no Temple, and no everything for weeks. Now I am demanding and enforcing. Now she's afraid. Our trip to Tha Bo planned for tomorrow is cancelled. 1

Popular Post peter48
Despite the death rate in China, Japan ship or Italy or Iran or Korea you have readers here in denial. Maybe you do not get the infection rate is massive, the death rate serious, some whole families dying in Wuhan including younger doctors or healthy folk. There is no vaccination as for flu or known drugs. Serious cases will go into local hospitals with critical pneumonia and be put on oxygen apparatus and young kids and over 65s at higher risk as are those with other conditions. Less advanced nation’s will suffer most. Control in early weeks is important or health care will collapse by numbers. The world is responding to an extreme threat. Italy and Iran are emblematic with increasing deaths of its citizens. Italy is far higher than Thailand. 1 2

The graph clearly shows a non- linear increase in cases under investigation. That is to be expected as testing ramps up. It does not infer that infections have increased non- linearly. It sometimes helps to read the axis description. Edited February 29, 2020 by emptypockets
