The 700ml bottles are often better value than the 1l bottles for all Thai drinks.

Strange but true.

My advice,

Switch to Hong Thong, same taste but 250bht for 700ml.

Tried Hong Thong, prefer the taste of Sangsom, even though it's drowned in Coke.

though i'm still questioning whether the OP's intention was to discuss thai spirit prices, or gloat about using diet coke instead of normal...

I'm trying to understand the logic, because usually the more one buys of any product, the cheaper it should be. Bulk buying is the zenith of that business practice.

The diet Coke is just incidental. I don't like the regular stuff, too sugary and sweet.

I haggle over the bar fine.

I can understand that, you'd probably go broke if you didn't. Perhaps you should negotiate discounts for repeat business.

fair enough

my only theory is that stupid people fall for the '1000' thinking it's a better deal, probably works well here

The logic is probably based on production volume. I suspect they make a lot more of the 700 ml bottles.

You may be right. When I used to drink Benmore, the 1 litre bottle was cheaper unit cost than the 700 mL, although that may have been imported.

I remember the Benmore sets at HotShots under the PornPing tower.

500bht for a bottle and 4 mixers.

Horrible stuff .......

How do you know it was Benmore? More likely Lao Khao with a bit of vegetable dye.

I think you aren't far off there - It not just whisky, I am forever telling the wife to think about what she buys at Big C, as things are often cheaper when buying larger sizes - when I pull out my calculator, yes, sometimes you can make a saving but so often the saving isn't worth worrying about. Some items are more expensive in the larger size.

I would suggest that the OP buy a box of sangsom, either the small or large bottles, at least he will save the petrol on going to buy the bottles.

For those of you who want to say I'm anally retentive or OCD, you are probably right. Just thought I'd save you the trouble of posting.

How about Cheap Charlie? You forgot that one...quite apropo for a retired Aussie club bending duffer with a calculator in Big C.

You must be related to the odiferous elephant pants chicks in see in Asia Market here in Siem, standing there staring in order to calculate how much a loaf of bread is in Euros. Ladies, please, maybe you should go up to Chaing Rai,  I got some lecherous old Aussie dude with a calculator for ya!

Good subject . Whisky shop ( Australian )   Off licence ( GB ).  Up here there are 3 different shades of Sangsom , one I can't remember but comes in a blue box , Supreme I think it is.  Another is Sangsom Similan , then there is the regular . All 18 years old , the regular is 140 B , the Supreme is 160 and the Similan 180.
