"But it is not the sellers making a profit..."

Yes, it is!  There is profit all along the line, unless you think that the vendors sell for the same price that they paid their supplier!  What would be the point of that, may as well stay at home!

The vendor sellers get 500 tickets each draw, 1,000 for the month.  They get to keep 9.6 baht for each ticket they sell.  So if they sold all of their tickets they earn 9,600 baht per month.  Now if they sell them all for 100 baht they keep 29.6 baht per ticket and would earn 29,600 baht/month if they sell them all.

Very good; why are you telling me that?  I know that they make a profit.

What price is quoted on the ticket?

Loopholes permit vendors to charge for services. Such as grouping numbers which generally suppresses the availability of real priced tickets. Obviously the government purge a while back was an outstanding success!

Wife's sister sells them they buy them for 70 baht a ticket and get 10 baht each ticket.

If there is some minor celebrity who ended up worse for wear and the bmw they were driving is now on the roof in somchai's garden then the numberplate 333 might be worth more so they staple that with some sh7t number like 000 and charge you 200 baht.

Other than that 80 baht a go

Must admit i prefer to buy a few Leo's .

But surely by selling more tickets with the same number reduces the overall number of tickets with different numbers being sold and entered in the draw.

It doesn't work that way. They draw random numbers, in theory it could happen that nobody bought a ticket with the winning numbers, then there would be no winner.
