Protests in Phrae over Future Forward MPs joining government-allied party

Local in Phrae province are furious after it became known that two former Future Forward Party MPs from the province have reportedly agreed to join Bhumjaithai Party.

 

Some residents of the province marched on a street in the city on Sunday (March 1), holding signs expressing their disappointment that the MPs they had elected were joining the government side.

 

Most of the protesters were members of the pro-democracy network in Phrae who had overwhelmingly voted for the now-dissolved Future Forward Party and even expected that the defection would happen.

 

They said the purpose of the protest was to put pressure on those MPs to explain the reasons why they had decided to join the government. The MPs, however, have not yet responded.

Rightfully so.

A by-election should be held, but the powers that be know that the same anti junta party would be elected again, which would lessen the rigged government majority.

Kudos to the Phrae protesters.

It is another sad day in Thailand.   Sadly these people were probably not vetted properly.   We can only hope they never know a moment's rest.

I think that they already have a pretty good idea what the reasons may have been, without having to ask the question. This was the subject of a few news stories last week, that pretty much laid out the multiple millions of reasons, why they might do such a thing.

Have a vote of "no confidence" in these turn-coat MPs, get them thrown out and have a by-election!

It amazes me that people thought that politicians in the Future Forward party couldn't be bought. All politicians in Thailand have their price, Even Thanathorn.

 

Thailand's poster boy, the great hope for democracy? Nah, just another grubby, grabbing Thai politician, just better looking.

 

Thailand is still a zillion miles away from democracy.
