FlorC
Anyone know of a good veterinarian in Phrae to spay female cats ? And do a good clean job without wrecking their health . The stray that chose me , just "rewarded" me with 5 little ones. Her young daughter (+/- 8 months old) has 3 , last month... The Thais here don't care . They have fleas and need to be dewormed too . I know the one near BigC in the street of the JIB store , but every time I go see , it's closed. I've been there 5 years ago for information and wasn't impressed. The one in the rundown house at the end of the talaat street for big volumes, has gone and that didn't inspire much confidence looking at that place. I need a good vet not a butcher , or the mai-pen-rai types , or the let's scr-w the farang type. Thanks.
Yom
I only have heard good things about this place. Sorry, I lost the telephone number. So some pictures? If you have passed 'PhraePolice' about 350 m on the right side there is this clinic. All the best!
FlorC
Hi Yom, From whom have you heard good things and for which animal ? Can you give me the googlemaps link or coordinates ? Looks like the left side of town. Googlemaps show some vets , but I don't know if they're good enough. The hospital near JIB is : https://www.google.co.th/maps/@18.1315442,100.1453848,3a,37.3y,178.16h,87.15t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s3j_QJOF09_EoSKLDDwBLuQ!2e0!7i16384!8i8192?hl=en
Yom
18 minutes ago, FlorC said: Looks like the left side of town. OK. I'm sure you might know the Roundabout near the Court? The clinic is not far from there. A good friend always visited the place with his dogs. And cats only seem to be another 4-legs species? Have a look at the map and try it out. Good Luck.
sceadugenga
I have no experience of vets in your region but have had two female cats desexed/spayed locally in the last year. The first was at the highly rated Dr Arnon's clinic in town and cost 3600B, the second was at a small (no English sign) single vet place on Highway 1 at MaeLao for a more reasonable 800B. Both recovered quickly and, probably more importantly, have not reproduced.
FlorC
^^ Yes Yom , I will check that one out. It is such a big responsibility choosing the right vet. If I choose badly I ruin the cats life . It still is a big operation and with Thai standards for hygiene and attitude , so much can go wrong , making the animal suffer. But 5 kittens is a nightmare too . Hey sceadugenga , since you have cats , what do you use against fleas and for deworming ?

sceadugenga
I find Frontline Pus works well for cats and dog flea problems. Vets will offer worming injections. I think you're worrying too much about the operation, it would have to be the most common carried out on cats in any surgery. Probably the worst side effect is that they tend to eat too much and get fat.
FlorC
In this thread : https://forum.thaivisa.com/topic/1144786-dogs-ticks-best-treatment-pills-or-inject-what-brand-vet-or-lazada/#comments Frontline doesn't get the thumbs up . And it can do harm to the animal if you read the reviews on "the net" . Well I am a worrier . If I choose wrong , such an operation can ruin the cat's life. So no pills for deworming ? Those 5 kittens will need deworming too , because the mom has fleas.
