Popular Post rooster59
Chiang Mai: Governor asks for "Little Ghosts" lists for restaurants and clubs Image: Daily News Chiang Mai's governor has said that he has instructed the police chief in the province to get lists of returnees from risky Covid-19 infected countries from airports and make a blacklist for restaurants and nightclubs. The move comes after a woman in the city boasted about coming back from Incheon in South Korea and going straight out to a BBQ restaurant then a pub. She was one of the so called "Phee Noi" or "Little Ghosts" who were working illegally in the Asian country and who have come back to Thailand amid fears for their health. She had not gone into the expected 14 day quarantine just got off the plane and gone out on the town. Governor Charoenrit Sanguanrit has asked Pol Lt-Gen Prajuap Wongsuk, the Region 5 commander, to get lists of "Phee Noi" from the Chiang Mai and Suvarnabhumi airports. They will then compile a blacklist of Chiang Mai people on the list to send to restaurants and pubs so they will be forewarned. The governor clearly wasn't sure what weight this would have and cautioned that people's rights would need to be considered in this regard. DrTuner
Expect complete shutdown of Walking Street, Patpong, etc. These girls get around. The ultimate hyper spreaders. Edited March 7, 2020 by DrTuner
Popular Post EricTh
When will these people know how to keep low for just two weeks. You can just stay at home or in the moobaan but to go partying or pub is definitely a risk to others. A blacklist of all the 'Phii noi' is useless because restaurant staff just can't check every customer who comes in.

I think the reason Thais are worried about them is that they know the phii nois respect nothing and nobody, it's all about the money and getting wasted and partying is a side bonus. They know their own.

I'd hope that a result of this these people's names will get circulated on the net when they try to get into anywhere. Loss of face is a powerful tool here, even though it will be too late to stop them spreading Covid if they're carriers.
legend49
All too late from the POWERLESS governor. Passport photos would be easier to ID someone instead of names.
samsensam
classic, the government washed its hands of involvement/responsibility when these workers returned and now thailand has to deal with the consequences.

Perhaps we should assume that given their chosen profession and lifestyle, they're not exactly accustomed to staying quietly at home, and are more accustomed to going out eating and drinking and XXXXing, preferably paid for by someone else.

The Government should have taken all arrivals from SK straight from the airport to a controlled facility for 14 days!! No loose cannons running around... Isaan sailor
You’d be amazed at how well Phii Noy’s are connected. They know bar and restaurant owners, plus domestic workers who will shield them.

Very eloquently said. In a strange way Thais are drawn to status, when a "labourer" returns from overseas work they are an object of interest at home. They have been working hard in the field and earning no-doubt good money, some of which I guess was sent home each month to help mother run the home and pay for younger siblings to go to school. Back at home they have stories to share about toiling all day and night to make money.. and with some spare burning a hole in the back pocket they are expected to go out and flaunt it around.. not stay at home playing FB in the cyber world. ehs818
Blacklisting them from going to Pubs? Really, is that all? I think a forced 14 day quarantine makes more sense for public safety.
Darkside Gray
So how are they going to enforce this? Ask for id's before entry.

I was thinking overnight.... If the government/Army had only said at the beginning, "Hey folks, we're arranging a welcome home celebration for you at the Sattahip Navy base. Free private room with room service for two weeks and all the free Leo beer and som tam you can eat or drink!!! I have no doubt, they wouldn't have had one single little ghost flee from an offer like that!! Edited March 9, 2020 by TallGuyJohninBKK
