In a breaking news item Thai Rath has just reported that a hospital in Lat Krabang said an immigration officer has come in with symptoms of Covid-19.

Thai Rath said sources suggested that the officer was working on a booth in the international arrivals/departures at Bangkok's main airport Suvarnabhumi.

Sources said the officer had contracted the virus while on duty despite taking precautions like wearing a face mask.

Cleaning of the area and quarantine measures were taking place.

Attempts to clarify the news with the Immigration Bureau, Public Health Department and airport authorities had been met with tight lipped responses.

Thai Rath said a press conference would be held to announce the details on Wednesday.

An immigration staff at Suvarnabhumi Airport has tested positive for the new coronavirus or Covid-19, deputy Bangkok permanent secretary Dr Pichaya Nakwatchara said on Wednesday (March 11).

“The Immigration Bureau is investigating whether he contracted the virus from working at the airport immigration checkpoint or through contact with other persons outside of work,” he said. “Preliminary report revealed that the staff had fever and went for a physical exam at Lat Krabang Hospital, where he tested positive for Covid-19.”

According to Pichaya, the staff who works at the outgoing passenger screening checkpoint is now in quarantine at the hospital.

“The hospital informed me that they have full equipment to maintain safe quarantine for Covid-19 patients, and they have instructed all staff treating the patient to wear protective suit to prevent the spreading.”

Yes, isn´t it funny that more people that return home from Thailand have COVID19, than cases in Thailand? It just must be a very lucky country.

Hmm...headline 'CONTRACTS CORONA VIRUS'

Underneath...came in with symptoms of corona virus. I.e. might have a common cold.

Exactly! It's not Covid 19 until he's been tested and confirmed.

Im surprised it's taken this long for some to get infected or are they not telling us?

The above quote from the article should shed(pun intended) some light on your query.
