Popular Post webfact
Pattaya shut down imminent: Bars and clubs brace for closure order The bars, pubs and clubs in Pattaya are bracing for orders from the government to shut to stop the spread of coronavirus in crowded areas. Comments made by health minister and deputy prime minister Anutin Charnvirakul after a meeting have instilled the feeling that time is up for Thailand's biggest entertainment resort, at least for now. Damrongkiat Phitnitkarn, the secretary of the entertainment and tourism industry in the eastern seaboard city, is bracing for the worst. Picture: 77kaoded He said that the damage to tourism has already been huge but that members of his association would cooperate with government directives to close. A decision is expected shortly. Damrongkiat took a swipe at Bangkok where 11 cases came from a club where people shared a glass of alcohol and a cigarette. He said some clubs had already closed in the capital. Picture: 77kaoded He said that most staff were still on full wages but he wondered how long that could be sustained with closures in Pattaya and no customers. He stressed that bars and clubs remain open for now with each adopting measures to protect staff and clientele. But he conceded that closure of the entertainment industry - for so long the lifeblood of the resort - would be a further devastating impact for Pattaya. Following the news, the hashtag #SAVEPATTAYA was trending across social media. Popular Post glennb6
Remember Purachai back in the taxin days? Anutin must be trying to out-do him. If the govt declares the bars in Pattaya must shut down, stick a fork in it and say goodnight. Property prices will crash, businesses will close and throw people out of work, and crime will increase. Maybe half the locals can take up rice farming again... I can't believe this is even being considered an option. Govt MIGHT be able to pull this off for a few days or a couple weeks, but if it's longer or indefinite, forget about it. Popular Post OneMoreFarang
If the Thai government shuts down all those places will they pay the wages for the staff for the next months? And will they support the owners to pay the rent? And just in case the government does not support them: Will they work as freelancers on the streets? 5

What makes Pattaya different from the rest of the world, when i many countries a similar rule is already in effect, and now countries in the west starting to enforce house arrests. 3

Why would they, who compensates the airlines, hotels, schools, kindergarten etc that are closed too, no one. I wasn't aware a bar is somewhat important for national security. Hospitals and Medicine personal must be protected at all costs, spreading that <deleted> around everywhere is why italy is absolutely messed up right now. They didn't give a <deleted> either, now their doctors are infected and dying too. 15 2 3

Popular Post ianezy0
this will be a good, responsible decision by Thailand. There will also need to be some kind of stimulus package to avoid the onset of a recession. 3
