webfact
Hua Hin: Beer bars close for 14 days - infected Chinese footballer stayed at "well known" hotel Picture: 77kaoded It has been revealed that a professional Brazilian football striker with a Chinese team who stayed at a Hua Hin hotel with teammates has tested positive for coronavirus. Meizhou Hakka FC went back to China on Monday and forward Dorielton, 30, was diagnosed the next day. The team had been staying at a famous Hua Hin hotel, said 77kaoded who did not name the establishment. The team also stayed at a hotel in Bangkok. Deep cleaning has been going on at the PT Prajuap FC stadium and the public are barred from using its facilities. Picture: 77kaoded Health authorities are scurrying to establish the movements of the team and timelines though they remained tight lipped about what they were doing regarding the hotel. Meanwhile more than 100 beer bars in Hua Hin are to close until the end of the month. They had hoped to remain open but 77kaoded said they had agreed to the 14 day closure. Popular Post petedk
Why don't they name the hotels? Isn't it important to find anyone who was there at that time and test them or keep them under observation? I saw Thai Airways sent a message out asking if anyone was on Flight Nr. xxxx as a passenger had tested positive. (sorry, I am not censoring haha, i can't remember the flight number) Edit: Are they afraid of defamation laws? If so, surely they should be dropped in cases like this. Implies they were Chinese. professional Brazilian football striker with a Chinese team . So he is NOT Chinese. There is enough hatred caste on the Chinese already. 1 1
James26
A professional football team staying in Hua Hin. Beyond the issue of the hotel, how many and which restaurants did they eat at? Where did they have drinks. If one teammate tested positive, you have to assume other teammates are or will become infected as well. It's just downright irresponsible and stupid not to make more information available, especially the name of the hotel. Facts publicly disseminated can save lives.

Timeline doesn't make sense. Seems there should be more days in between. Did he go and get tested the second he landed in China and got immediate results within 24-hours? If he felt to need to test immediately, was he already feeling unwell in Thailand and while boarding plane to go back? Did he have a fever while boarding & still got on plane?

You don't simply enter China these days, there's quarantine and testing going on for everyone on arrival. They want to avoid importing cases of the flu they were exporting all around the world just a couple of months back.
SMEinBangkok
I'm reluctant to say or believe this, but at this point I have to come to the conclusion that the Thai government doesn't really want to track the potential virus cases. If they did, they would make the names of these establishments known so that people who frequented them could be tested, tracked and quarantined. I live in Bangkok and not only do I not want to get the virus, I really don't want to pass it on to my family. But, if we don't know where these people are getting infected how can we do that?
