Thai media reported that the border area between Thailand and Myanmar at Ranong was being swamped by visa running foreigners.

These were being turned back by the Thai authorities after Myanmar immigration closed the border between Ranong and Koh Song too.

Thais and Myanmar nationals are still allowed to cross between the countries.

77kaoded reported that Koh Song was empty but Ranong was not.

Governor of the southern Thai province Jatuphot Piyamputra said there were an unusually high number of foreign tourists in town after the Malaysians sealed their borders.

Then at midday yesterday he received notification that the Myanmar authorities had closed their border to foreigners as well.

The Thai authorities were turning back visa runners' vehicles.

Foreigners have been advised to contact Thai immigration offices where they can get 30 day extensions.

Why don´t the visa runners try this first instead of traveling (with kids) through the half country?

Maybe they already have had their 30 day extension ?

Perhaps. Then they had 60 days in the country. A looooong vacation - if it´s a vacation only.

It´s always good to have a proper visa if people want to stay longer.

Why don’t these supposed parents be realistic....once you have young kids your travelling/exploring days are over...........a two week holiday in nice hotel with kiddies pool yes........a 3 month trip travelling s.e Asia ..no!

If there was no virus, why not? Some people are capable of handling that very well.

Myself, have two daughters. One is old enough and goes with me everywhere I go. When the other one is a couple of years I will bring her as well.

Under the circumstances there is not any disaster or virus active that will say. Doing it now, is stupid.
