How about, most of the foreign victims detected in Thailand have been CHINESE!!!  And the Chinese number alone is almost as large as those of all other non-Thai nationalities combined.

China 28, every other individual country, just a handful at most.

Most of the confirmed cases found in Bangkok and vicinity have been traced to a single day of boxing events at Lumpinee Stadium. The bulk of the rest came from close contact with previously confirmed victims. Most cases in the southern border provinces originated at religious ceremonies in Malaysia

OMG. That's like saying we know nothing, but we do our best to make it look professional.

Let's pray and dance.

Men smoke more, drink more, and avoid medical attention more than women and that surely is related to their increased risk at least somewhat. Chinese men in particular smoke an awful lot.

In Chiang Rai, I'd say about 95% of the population are wearing masks. Of the other 5%, it seems to be mainly young Thai males.

What a question !

no Thai would be able to ....
Everyone knows very well that they are dirty farang, maybe even Italians, who brought it .:whistling:

I have never heard of any Farang crapping on the kerb, crapping in taxis, or peeing on the airport train.

I went to Villa Market in Bang Tao an hour ago.

The only people I saw without masks and actively ignoring the staff at the entrance offering hand sanitizing gel and to wipe the handlebars of the trolleys coming in from outside were Falangs (Europeans). Of folks in the store, Asian and European ratio to Euro was high on the European side. I doesn't know about 'dirty falangs' but the actions I saw this morning sure seem to to show indifference to self and others at best, and perhaps white-privilege arrogance at worst (i.e. I won't get it, I'm somehow immune, I couldn't have it and therefore have no need to wear a mask or uptake hand cleaning protocols?

Foreigners not wearign masks seems to be a thing. Must in the US, OZ and the UK are the same, according to my friends who like in these places. Perhaps I've been here too long - I always wear a mask when in public now. Not quite sure of the WHO's stance on masks not being useful for healthy people. Surely they will stop droplet infection if worn properly. Perhaps not so much if the virus is aerosolized. Not getting infected should be relatively easy (asife from those in the front line), but some people are either stupid or wilfully ignorant. I shoudl add, protect the elderly at all costs.

Why are the Thai news outlets not reporting the 100,000 infected in Surin and the 5,000 in ICU and the 80,000 waiting to be tested?

My wife lives there...and this is going to get much worse as all the infected in the cities just brought it all back up country.

There is a video (in Thai) from the provincial police chief my wife sent but I dont have the link (apologies).

When out earlier i detected a slight nervousness with Thais when i picked up some food, maybe it's because there are so few farang about but i suspect it's more the health ministers comments plus todays increase in virus numbers including several farang

Trust me, they are getting paranoid and some (?) start seeing caucasians as the gwáilóu (鬼佬) (white devil), bearer of all the afflictions in this world.
I had an unpleasant experience today and it is the first time I have ever felt that way in decades in Thailand. I live in a popular area of Bangkok where foreigners are common sight. I went to the 7/11 next to my building and I was waiting near by the cashier when a maskless ( but that is not the point) 40/50 yoa Thai man entered to do some purchase. When he passed me by he told to go away ( in Thai) but I did not reply. I just decided to move around in the shop, approaching him, at a "social distance", in order to annoy him: it worked quite well. I then told him to go away (in a nicer way). I paid and left. As I counted this story to some friends later today, I was told that the same kind of things had happened to them. Bad memories rush to the surface....

Apparently masks are in high demand and despite assurances by the government that the countries supply of 100 million masks per month for 70 million people is adequate there are still shortages.

Nobody knows why ????

Chill out...It doesn't seem to spread nearly as much in warmer countries..it spreads, but not nearly as fast thus not putting any strain on the health system.

  Indonesia begs to differ.

"It was just last month that Indonesia’s coronavirus cases stood at zero, with officials fiercely rejecting suggestions that infections were spreading undetected.

Weeks later, 78 fatalities have now been linked to the virus, the highest number in south-east Asia. Seven health workers are among those who have died.

While confirmed case have risen to almost 900, researchers have estimated that there could be tens of thousands of hidden infections across the country, and there is growing concern that medical facilities will be unable to cope in the event of a major outbreak."

Indonesia has about 270 million people. Much bigger than Thailand. So that death count is impressively low.

Not at all. There have been multiple reports of tourist picking up Covid-19 as early as January from Indonesia (Lastest from a dutch tourist). Covid-19 has been going around in SEA from the beginning due to its high % of Chinese tourist. Indonesia has a poor health system and an extreme high % smokers. Yet only 78 dead. More died just today in the Netherlands than the whole of Indonesia for month. I believe that the Indonesian numbers might not be accurate, but they are also very very far from full hospitals.

Chill out...

Because it is a load of bull?

Adding up the beds in hospitals listed in Surin comes out to less than 2,000.

   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_hospitals_in_Thailand

So, 5,000 in ICU would be quite an amazing accomplishment. But, then again, critical thinking on your part appears to be an equally amazing feat.

Also, adding Thai script to your post does not give it any additional authority. Oh, and please note the stories of people arrested for spreading nonsense like this on social media. Hope you are outside the country at this time.

Must be.

Went to a pharmacy far out of the tourist area today, and for a mask the type as in the picture they asked 99 Baht, not even farang price, since it had the price labelled.

80000 waited to be tested? All in the waiting room next to their ICU unit that has 5000 beds?

What you smoking? I could use some good stuff during these lockdowns.. LOL

Say what you will about the Thai Government and there is a lot to criticise. Yet locking down the population now is the right thing to do.

Current R0 number is about 3 in BKK (IE. Every infected person on average infects 3 more people) . By locking the city down it will get the R0 number down to less than 1 (any number less than 1 will reduce the total number of infections). Lock it down now and whatever cases there are in BKK / Thailand will peak in about 14  days and then slowly decline. Obviously you can't keep country locked down forever but it buys time.

If you don't lock it down now you are Italy in say 6 to 8 weeks. Btw, Italy has seemed to peaked 12 days after lock down. New infections have trended down the last 4 days.

There is a solution to this mess, but it is probably 2 to 4 months away. Basically have to develop a way to get the R0 number to less than 1 without locking down the economy. The easiest way would be through testing the entire population on a daily or every second day - if you get geeky with the maths you theoretically only need to test say 10% of the correct part of the population to achieve blanket testing. Germany and S Korea seem to have worked out how to do this. Just have to build the system so the entire world can implement it. Just throw the best people at the problem, unlimited resources and it is solvable in 2 to 4 months.

The trick is to survive to the mathematical puzzle is solved

Covid has been here since January...the only reason this isn't a complete disaster is because (seems extremely likely) of the climate.

Lets hope your theory is correct, because they just cancelled the last flights out of BKK..... Strap yourself in because this is going to be a hell of a ride.
