Fleeing the scene of accidents in Thailand is something one reads about with great regularity

Now the Thais have taken the bad habit a step further.

One Thai man with Covid-19 has been caught after fleeing from quarantine at a hospital in southern Thailand.

The man - aged about 20 -25 - is thought to have got out of his bed in a first floor quarantine room, entered the balcony and jumped to "freedom".

Doctors doing the rounds soon notified Krabi Hospital director Dr Suphot Phukaoluan who notified the Muang district police.

Medical staff and the constabulary then mobilized in a manhunt for the escapee.

Daily News reported that they soon got a call from staff screening for coronavirus at the bus station. A man with a high temperature was trying to board a bus back to his home in Trang.

He was quickly arrested and taken back to quarantine.

(The media did not report what he was wearing, notes Thaivisa)

He had been admitted to the hospital last week after being in Koh Phi Phi. He was diagnosed with the virus and was in quarantine in the "45 Year" Building at the hospital.

The authorities said they are prosecuting the patient under the infectious disease regulations of 2015. They need to set an example to others.

People need to have a conscience and cooperate, they said.

Meanwhile Daily News reported that cases in Krabi Hospital are on the rise. There have already been six cases there and 16 more are awaiting results.

The media said that at around ten of these are expected to come back positive.

Be careful what you wish for.

Probably not as far as shooting on sight....but yes, a softer version is almost inevitable....sooner than we think

Will he be fined "at least" 20,000 baht like the foreigner up north was? Jail time like the lady in Colombia might receive (4 years)?
