Foreigners and locals in Thailand told to STAY INDOORS

Yep. The lengths the Thai government and people go to maintaining an 'us vs. them' mentality by consistently making distinctions between Thais and foreigners is getting on all our nerves. Thailand needs a good dose of political correctness and leftist indoctrination, not this racist BS they've been getting away with for so long. The world we're heading into is going to be more multicultural, about time Thailand gets with the times instead of living in the 18th century.

I can't remember the last time any American government directive or business or just any individual made a distinction between American citizens and foreigners. It just doesn't happen.

Not in Roi Et Province.

Shopping malls, golf clubs, non essential shops still operating as usual.

Any tennis courts open  in Roi Et? In Surin and Buriram they are closed. No way to practice for my daughter who wants to make the Thai tennis world proud.

Walking on a golf course, perfect social distancing, daft to close exercise choices. A guy i knew topped himself a few days ago in UK, Corona was the reason, closing his golf course could have well been the final straw

I tried golf once.. it spoiled an othewise enjoyable walk!!

Someone asked me what was my handicap?

I said getting the ball in the hole!

Read the headline again.

You are not trying , surely you could be more pedantic. Clearly the sensible general advice is not adequate for you so I advise you to contact the health authority in question

I am sure they would be only too happy to furnish you , and indeed every other nit picker , with detailed instructions tailored to your specific requirements.

Told to stay indoors and advised to stay indoors do not have the same meaning. Told indicates possible consequences. Advised means do it for your own safety but the choice is yours. The headline and the full article are at variance on this point.

Obviously all recommended precautions should be taken.

Possible the most sensible comment to have come from the government to date. If people ignore the peril and keep socialising this virus will sweep rampantly through the country.

Socialising is clearly risky, but people should be able to exercise in order to stay healthy. I'm looking forward to striding along our empty promenade or cycling the barren streets. No risk to me or anyone else, whereas a few days stuck in doors with Thai TV and I'd be munching chairlegs.

My sofa is quite tasty too.

Any sense totally obviated by the mindless insistence to cluster together at immigration offices for pointless procedures.

Very, very smart. A stable genius. LOL. Heat is the blessing here. It decimates the virus. We will not see big numbers. I estimate it will fade out at less than 5,000 cases total. Hope I am right.

But, it is and has been hot here... should it not be decimated already? Should we stay inside and not turn on the a/c?

ps - would a stable genius have horse sense?

You just need to encounter one person with the virus. How do you think China stopped the virus from  spreading throughout China: Complete lockdown! Currently Indonesians are dying in the streets. I can quite easily imagine that happening in Thailand too.

Take walk up Pattaya Klang - most shops open including Harbor Mall

At the risk of stating the obvious - taking a walk outside where people are is exactly what you are not supposed to do.

Kind of like closing the old proverbial barn door after the horse named Covid-19 has already pulled a runner. Should have closed it back in January or February or even early March. At this point herd immunity is now the default strategy for Thailand.
