Popular Post webfact
Committee set up to find those responsible for organising March 6 boxing event By The Nation Army chief General Apirat Kongsompong on Thursday (March 26) ordered the setting up of a committee to find the people responsible for holding a competition in Lumpinee Boxing Stadium on March 6. The boxing stadium, which is under the management of the Royal Thai Army, has been the hotbed for the spread of the new coronaviris (Covid-19) in Thailand, prompting demands by Thai netizens to hold the Army accountable. The holding of the event could be deemed a violation of a government diktat, after Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, on March 3, ordered all public gathering locations such as sports stadiums to be closed. The private sector was allowed to hold a public gathering if it strictly followed the Public Health Ministry guidelines while the authorities of the public sector were ordered to consider the appropriateness of the gathering before granting permission. Popular Post Ian Nagle
They need a serious finger pointing re-think. Popular Post legend49
After the Korat tragedy a list of army activities and ownerships was drawn up. Boxing arenas and horse racing centres were suppose to be disposed of back to dept of Finance. Obviously we need a committee to check why that wasnt done too. 2

Popular Post Benmart
The Army, Police and others seemingly have their fingers into everything. Cash flowing, unregulated by those who may be benefiting from this chaos. Pathetic. 5

Sydebolle
In that case can we expect the resignation of Army chief General Apirat Kongsompong anytime soon. As the big wig he would have to take responsibility for the incident. Not, that he was involved - it was organized by one of his underlings who bluntly ignored if not purposely disregarded an army order. As it happened during Apirat's watch, the army might be in need of a new army chief general?

Is this the way to start that process? Just out of curiosity, why has it taken so long to decide to order the formation of a committee to investigate a straight forward and blatant disregard of a law supposedly set in place before the event by the one in charge of the country? Didn't he get his share first? Usually military justice follows a chain of command process. 'nuf sed.

spidermike007
Just arrest the top fifty generals, including Prayuth and Prawit, and jail them without trial. Problem solved. Guilty parties caught and dealt with. 1
