Russian mother and 9 year old son left stranded at KL airport after being turned away from Thailand

Malaysia should issue her a med certificate to move onward since it is one not allowing her to re-enter or stay in Malaysia...

Foreign staff in hostels here don’t tend to be legitimate employees.

living like a gypsy with a young kid, and no back up plan, no emergency fund is selfish and irresponsible.

How is she living like a gypsy? You know there a lot of people live in this world without the money for an emergency fund as you put it.

There is story after story here about people who lack the facility to think ahead. Even if there are no rules inplace to stop travel and stop you from disembarking at your destination, what wrong with looking at the over all pitcure. Bad virus problem in China which has spread, some restriction on travel which could cause more restriction. Maybe not a good time to go help Afgan refugees, son we will give this trip a pass.

I can't see any problems. They will get food and drinks every day for free.

And one day there will be a flight to Russia.

But wait..... Why not set up a "go fund me " scam?

I've encountered many women +child over the decades on 3 continents.

Sure, some are hippy-types wanting a care-free lifestyle.  But most of them were escaping a dangerous situation in their home country, either abusive husband/boyfriend or family debts owed to criminals.  Oftentimes both.

The situation changed rather quickly - unfortunately the girl was a bit late for leaving Malaysia.

Only two weeks ago there were tickets Bangkok-Moscow available for 450 usd per adult OW (while Thailand was not closed for foreigners without work permit/medical certificate) - and there have never been direct flights from Malaysia to Russia lately (except for some charter flights to Langkawi for NY many years ago) - so the most affordable way from Malaysia to Russia was often via Bangkok.

Though the girl does not wish to go back to Russia which is undestandable - the economy is going from worse to worse for the last 6 years now.

What a sad state of affairs and a sad reflection on the bureaucracy of both countries involved...

Where is the compassion in these crazy times ??

I agree, bad enough covid has turned everything into world war Z, but impacting them and no one can help is insane.
