Foreign tourists trapped in Cambodia by red tape

Recommended Posts

When the authorities do not try a little good will it can quickly turn into a nightmare 😩

1) that all airline companies now require foreign tourists to have their health certified by the French non-profit Pasteur Institute in Phnom Penh

2)However, Chhay has confirmed that Pasteur Institute does not check for those who do not show symptoms of being sick in an effort to preserve the limited number of testing kits in the country.

3)Pasteur Institute will only issue positive test and the negative test certificate will not be issued, for reasons currently unknown.

So it's a Catch 22... The government requires a certification of a negative CV test result from the local medical institute there in order to board flights. But the institute won't issue certificates of negative results, and won't test those showing no symptoms... Bottom line, you're stuck in Cambodia!!!

Adding to the conundrum, Pasteur Institute will only issue positive test and the negative test certificate will not be issued, for reasons currently unknown.

Is Frenchy also trapped there?

Maybe you could offer to let her move in with you .... she's probably short of money.
