Is there a curfew in place in Phuket?

Sorry to start a new thread but this may get lost in the existing news article.

It seems that many tourists are of the belief that there's an ongoing curfew in place in Phuket.

Having read the document issued on Wednesday, it appears to me that that was just a one night directive but I've seen Facebook posts from tourists who believe they have to stay in their rooms from 7pm. The number of people on the streets last night seemed to support this.

Can someone give definitive answers?

Is there a curfew in Phuket?

Does it apply only to tourists?

What hours does it apply to?

No speculation, facts only please, ideally with source of information.

IMO there is a 'soft' curfew 20.00 - 05.00. Doubt be enforced at this time.

Good. I'm training again for the 4-daagse, and with bang wad not an option want to walk Rawai-kata-nai harn- Rawai tomorrow morning. Less traffic than normal, so should be ok, but still want to start 05.30 or so.

I think the various replies I've received have demonstrated that no one has a clue, probably even the Governor!

Thailand has yet to grasp the importance of good communication, as has been seen throughout this crisis.

Missus says its 1700 - 2300

That's the Phuket one and only until ??. Was only one day. Not clear at all. The nation wide curfew takes precedent .... in my humble opinion. Clear as mud.

Edit - and was 17.00 - 24.00

While it's all as clear as mud, as far as I can read there is no curfew at this time.

Just read on Twitter (Richard Barrow) that there is now a curfew in place in Phuket. It applies to tourists only and is in effect from 8pm until 3am.

Apparently this document tells all but as I can't read Thai I haven't a clue.

Where the logic lies in this type of curfew I don't have a clue. It may stop people congregating in public areas but that's still happenoeng on the beaches during the day. Maybe they think the virus spreads easier at night as it allegedly started from bats!

I am afraid this might not be curfew.
But in any way, new restriction.

Sometime I go to the dam in Chalong, red mark in the map.
Many person goes to there for exercise.
I went there today, 27 Feb. 2020, and I saw Thia officials
are building small warning board.
It is only in Thai and officer told me "COVID, no exercise here".

After coming back to my home, I found this.
https://www.thephuketnews.com/phuket-dental-clinics-public-recreation-areas-closed-in-latest-covid-order-driver-licence-process-shifted-online-75450.php

>driver’s licence process shifted online

Now many area in Phuket are closed for Thais and expert for 24 hours.

I think Thai people living or working can still enter to the dam area.
Actually I saw several Thai persons. But expert can not.

Was I lucky ? I was not arrested on 27 Feb.
I could go back to my home safely. And I will not go there for a while.

What's an "expert"? Covid 19 specialist?

It is still a request and not an official cufew, police check point will stop you to see if you have mask, hand sanitizer and checks your temperature, ask you where you go, but nothing else, not fine or arrest you, only essential errand is allowed...

What about local parks?

I think all closed now, local parks, national parks, beaches... I have seen people walking and running in Naiharn and Kata, but not on the beaches, but on the road and pavement - which doesn't make sense to me at all, they pass by each other close, much more space on the beach....!!! ?

This morning, my nearest local park is somewhat opening so I assume it will be closed earlier than usual - probably up to 4 or 5pm.

Latest request from Patong mayor now, wanting to out-do everyone else, basically asking not to come out of your home, at all, at anytime, and they will start door to door house/apartment checks to find sick people from today... !!!?

And all this because there was "only" about 8 infections in Patong last day or so (and I think 9 in the whole of Phuket), mind-boggling...! ????
