Thailand’s total number of Covid-19 cases rose to 1,136 with 91 new cases confirmed over a 24-hour period while one person died, Sujariyakul Anupong, senior expert in preventive medicine at the Department of Disease Control, said on Friday (March 27).

The cases can be divided into three groups.

The first group of 30 are connected to cluster cases -- five people had attended a boxing event in a stadium, seven had worked and been to entertainment venues, and 18 had had close contact with others previously confirmed as infected.

The second group comprised 19 people of whom 10 had just returned from overseas ( nine Thais and a foreigner ), five were working in crowded areas or close to foreigners, and four are under investigation.

The last group of 42 are being investigated on the source of the infection.

Meanwhile, nine people have fully recovered and returned home.

As of March 27, the total number of confirmed cases in the country stood at 1,136 -- 1034 are under treatment, 11 in critical condition in hospitals -- 97 have recovered and been discharged, and there have been five deaths.

Of the total number of cases, 12 per cent are foreigners and 88 per cent Thai citizens from 52 provinces of Thailand.

Globally, there are more than 500,000 confirmed cases in 194 countries and nearly 24,000 deaths.

This comment is taken from the WHO daily 'sit rep' report for Thailand:

"Thailand has strong capacities for case detection, risk assessment, case investigation, laboratory diagnosis, clinical management, infection prevention and control, and risk communication.

With WHO support, the National Institute of Health is supporting specimen testing for other countries as requested''.

So @Mavideol roll out your evidence.
