sallecc
Not sure was this necessary... Was in Kata beach today, only few people there, distanced 10-20 meters apart... Not sure about Patong though... https://www.thephuketnews.com/all-phuket-beaches-closed-75488.php
London Lowf
Up until this news I would rather have been on Phuket than at home in UK, but now? No way! Really don't see the point, unless it's to cut down on traffic/people moving around.

All those so called "officials" will take insane decisions in order to outdo their collegues. Zealots seeking "virtue". The worst specie. And the most dangereous. Alas public sector is not the only one... Tesco has decided a new rule : only 15 customers at any given time in their "express" stores ! [source Richard Barrow] Why, how ? ! As peasants, and victims of a huge social experiment, we will never know. We can only assume : a crazy CEO, infected not by the virus but by insane "experts" and of course inane "PR" managers, has decided that he must seek "virtue". Over science. Over business. Over common sense. Brace for even more insanity in the coming weeks and... months. It's only the beginning...

tifino
... did they barricade the beaches, with barbed wire beachchair walls? or an armed sandcastle...
phuketrichard
Just had a look at Kamala, if you did not read thaivisa or go online, u'd not know the beach is closed, No signs, people out in the water, kayaking, walking along the nearly empty beach.. Cant see them stopping anyone

Agusts
So are they stopping people to walk on the promenade of the beach too, not on the sand but payment of the road along the beach... !? It's totally insane and unnecessary, but I saw a group of young farang drinking and partying together on the beach and in the water yesterday, like nothing was up, so that <deleted> off the authorities, they should just have sensible laws against that , and police go and send them packing, rather than closing the whole beach... !!! If I go swim alone in the water who do I infect, the fish....!? ????????
