Popular Post rooster59
Thais in Pattaya concerned by foreigners not wearing face masks Image: 77Kaoded Thai people in Pattaya fear for their health, due to foreigners refusing to wear face masks during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Thai news site 77Koaded reported that many foreigners in Pattaya have been seen without a face mask when outside. The site spoke to the owner of a coffee shop who said both them and their staff were worried for their own safety after serving foreign customers who were not wearing facemasks. The owner said the coffee shop is closed but still serving coffee to takeaway. The site purported that most foreigners who were seen along Pattaya Beach Road during the day were not wearing masks. And while it acknowledged that some Thai people were also not wearing masks, it claimed the majority of foreigners in the resort did not wear a mask. In its report the site included photos of what appeared to be several foreign men without face masks. The news comes as an increasing number of businesses and public sector organizations now require people to wear a face mask in order to enter the premises. Makro, Villa Market and the BTS/MRT now require people to wear face masks. Some branches of banks and convenience stores also make the same requirement. Earlier this month, Thaivisa ran a straw poll on its Facebook page which asked if people had been wearing a face mask. Overwhelmingly, respondents said they had not been wearing a mask. However, early results from the same poll posted today (29 March) suggested that most foreigners in Thailand are now wearing face masks. The news comes as the government said face mask production would be ramped up in order to help avoid any shortages. Earlier this month, the Department of Internal Trade said Thailand has the capacity to make 36 million face masks per month. Despite this, there have been numerous reports of shortages of face masks nationwide. The advice from health officials in Thailand is stay indoors and if you have to go outside, ensure you are wearing a face mask. -- © Copyright Thai Visa News 2020-03-29 Follow Thaivisa on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates 1 1

Popular Post kevin612
My concern is “are masks available to the public”? How do you expect people to wear them if they can’t find them in their local convenience stores? 30 5
Popular Post edwinchester
Been out trying to buy a mask that will help stop a virus with no luck. Only ones available are the near useless paper like or homemade cloth ones. 12

Popular Post Wiggy
If the locals read the facts about wearing a mask, and the uses thereof, they might think differently, but it’s an Asian thing. I didn't wear one until recently, but when in Rome. 21 1 3

That has got to be one of the stupidest statements I have ever heard Just how exactly are they going to drink coffee wearing a mask, you claim your shop is only doing take away - where is it and I will make sure I avoid it like the plague - for good and no - handling the mask defeats the whole objective wearing a mask If you don't want to get infected then close your coffee shop and go home and stop spreading foreign hate around the place Edited March 29, 2020 by smedly 35 4 2 7

Popular Post monkfish
I think if like in the picture there is enough distance more than 2m then they shouldn't needed. But in inclosed places like markets and immigration they should definitely be worn. Now I see joggers wear them and I think for that it's not needed but hey if they feel better why not. P.s can we have some articles with information where we can buy them as they should be change on a daily basis I think most people are wearing same mask for days.

Popular Post bkk6060
Some lame excuses and unprepared. So, now use your imagination. Cut up that old Singha tank top or torn underpants and put/tie it around your face. It is some protection and others will not hate you. 5

They've said the same thing every month and in every report on the subject... PS - They can't "avoid" any shortages when there have been nothing but shortages ever since the beginning!!! It would be nice if their ramping actually translated into masks available for sale to the public on a readily available basis, which it hasn't... Instead, few selling locations, long queues and lucky to get a couple drugstore masks per queue-up. And meanwhile, Thai companies are exporting millions of masks overseas, unhindered by their own government.
Popular Post Andrew Dwyer
I wear a mask and have done for a few weeks now, it’s about 10% for protection for the virus and 90% to avoid standing out from the crowd and giving locals any reason to blame me for the Covid 19 !! About 80% wearing masks in my neighbourhood including the “ chin “ masks and those not covering the nose ! TooBigToFit
There's no excuse. You can put a bandana over your nose and face. Most of the nation is wearing them now. International experts are starting to change their tune and confirm it does seem to be making a difference in slowing the spread. 1

stuhan
Every condo, hotel, hostel should be given enough masks to give to all tenants and owners, all other homes/area's should be visited by goverment distributing masks to everyone [ probably at a price].Bring in compulsory wearing of masks for everyone, how else can you solve this problem over wearing of masks,it's a <terrible> way i know but that's the cards we are being dealt with. Popular Post khunpa
I wear a mask to ensure the Thais do not see me as the "dirty farang not wearing a mask". First it was the chinese and now the farangs to be blamed. I wonder when they start to accept that thais are spreading this more than any farang or chinese person right now. 10
