When ever I have seen the prison guards escorting prisoners to a hospital they are never armed....of course the prisoners are handcuffed and in leg irons so there is not a big window for escape! Many will be low level drug offenders who have an addiction and are caught with a substance. Here's a thought, instead of putting them in a festering room with tens of people, why not try and address the issue of their addiction so they can change their life?, and be a better functioning person in society?

It's almost a death sentence to be in some of those prisons for any length of time. This country has a lot of growing pains to go through Human rights, a strange concept in Thailand. Being treated as sub-human being more like it. Then again, prison's only for the poor here anyway!
NoComment
The old saying "If you can't do the time don't do the crime" Every single Thai and every single tourist knows 100% what happens and what the conditions are in Thai jail's. I am a believer in the Thai jail system and I commend it 100% I wish Western jail's used the same system and I am sure the illegal drugs, rape and child molestation would stop virtually overnight. Congratulations to the Thai Prison Service.

We can all see they are likely to be left behind in SE Asia sometime in the future, its going to be a painful lesson for them to embrace being humble and open minded, it will probably be learned by a generation further down the road.
