Their logic will be fewer drivers on the roads now so easier to get everyone used to the switch-over! I've driven in the Gulf Middle East in my past for a total of 19 years, and driven a good amount in Thailand although I've never lived there. In any case, there's no comparison. The UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait = Mad Max Fury Road. Comparatively speaking, Thailand = relaxing stroll in the park. How popular Pattaya is, directly dependent on the availability of cheap sex. Family friendly = 20% drop. No bars at all = 95% drop. It's not difficult at all to calculate, the beach is dirty, and the sea is polluted. Nobody in their right mind would travel there for either. KSA it is very impatient and aggressive, that isn't usually the case here. More just, well, unfathomable! 1

Chonburi's silver medal position in road casualties looks safe thanks to the BIB (Bandits-in-Brown.) The more traffic, the more accidents, that is logical. However, there is a thresh-hold where there is so much traffic, that when any accident occurs, it happens at such a slow speed, it does not result in a life-threatening condition. The majority of accident that kills people at times of high traffic (Songkran, New Year) are motorcycles, these are drunk youth stumbling onto their bikes going from one karaoke bar to the next on the backstreets of rural areas. Any accidents on the main highways for example between Korat and Bkk, where the average speed is 30 - 40 km/h, involves cars and results in fender benders and headaches.

Popular Post thaiowl
The authorities and underemployed could use the down time to clean up Thailand's resorts. As I ride my bike, I am depressed, astonished and disheartened by the vast amount of litter that is everywhere. As a population that purports to be so proud of their country, how come the locals are quite happy to throw their litter anywhere? A lack of education, integrity, pride and law enforcement all contribute to the disgrace that is Thailand's litter problem. I pick up litter every day, and it does make a significant difference over time. 8

Popular Post Boomer6969
Isn't COVID a golden opportunity to rethink this place 100%? They should hire consultants from Korea or Singapore to come up with some plan plan as no-one in Thailand has the brain, nor backbone, for that sort of achievement. 5

Popular Post spidermike007
Join the club. Hundreds of millions around the world are struggling to make a living, at this moment. As I said on another thread, I expect the consequences of the economic shutdown to be 100 times worse than the virus itself. It is like making a facial pimple into a cancerous tumor. More people died last year in Italy, of pulmonary issues in two weeks time, than the total number of worldwide deaths to date from corona. This zombie apocalypse reaction, with regard to the economy is so far beyond inane, that it barely merits discussion. Millions could die of starvation in India alone. 7 2 1 2

Better for who ? Not the girls who service them or the establishments that provide them with a bed , food and drink. Better for Thailand's image , well given that 90% of the sex trade is driven by domestic consumption , well not that either. If Pattaya , Nana , Soi Cowboy , Patpong , Bangla Rd all ceased to exist , there would still be thousands of massage parlours , Karaoke bars etc offering sexual services. If you dont like the concept , why choose to live in Thailand , prostitution has been part of the culture for centuries. 13 3

Popular Post robert888d
I feel very sorry for all the Thai people who are now out of work and have no money coming in at all..restaurant workers, show workers, massage workers etc etc Most Thai also send money to their poor older relatives, so they will be suffering too.I think more and more people will succumb to this virus and many will die in four to five weeks time.Hopefully by Christmas things will have improved and the tourists will be zooming back .especially if the Baht had fallen. 2
