The total number of Covid-19 cases in Thailand rose to 1,651 with 127 new infections confirmed over a 24-hour period while one person died, Taweesin Visanuyothin, spokesman of the government's Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration, said on Tuesday (March 31).

Commerce Ministry permanent secretary Boonyarit Kalayanamit said on Monday (March 30) that the government has changed the face mask distribution plan by transferring the responsibility to the Ministry of Interior. One million masks will be distributed to medical teams and volunteer nurses nationwide every day, starting from 5pm on Monday.

The rise rate of new COVID-19 infections in Thailand has slowed down over the past three days, from 143 on Sunday to 136 on Monday and 127 today. Medical experts have, however, cautioned that the continuing rise, albeit slower, remains of concern because the contagion has now spread to 61 of the country’s 76 provinces.

Ban on egg exports extended to prevent domestic shortage
